The thing that shocks me the most is the movement and fitness of Djokovic at his age ! When you look back at last year Nadal in Brisbane (same age )the thing that really catches my attention is the comparison in the movement ! Nole maintained his body ultra shape and he is lighter than Nadal ( easier to move around the court ) which allows him to have this staggering level at nearly 38
@Whatreally123

he didn't abuse his body with years of roids like nadal. Even Fed was pretty decent till the finals of the 2019 wimbledon.

Djokovic is looking in supreme form. Down the line backhand working like a charm on approach, as well as , a looping high ball. And super precision on the forehand strikes. Will take a certain Sinner or Alcaraz to stop him .

I'm putting money on GMP to win. Man scares me more than any player outside of Sinner and Alcaraz. Wouldn't mind losing $50 to see Novak whoop the giant's ass, but the $250 from a GMP win is a good consolation prize ;) Going to be good to see if Novak still has that "best returner of all time" ability to neutralize possibly the best serve in tennis history (then again, just 16 months ago, he 3-0'd Shelton, who has IMO the 2nd best serve in the world). No shade to other fantastic servers like Jannik, Zverev, Hubi -- they have consistency and placement with great speed, but GMP and Shelton generate 140 mph first serves with regularity.

Yesterday it seemed has Novak has worked on his forehand depth & speed. He was hitting the ball really clean and deep. I hope Novak re-discovers his top level against top players at the slams. Currently Jannik & Carlos will be his toughest challenges till he plays tennis. Particularly Jannik is gonna give him some difficult time whenever he's gonna face Novak.

Mate Federer took Djokovic to 5 sets in Wimbledon 2019 where Djokovic equivalent age of that moment is FO/RG of 2025. Also battling injuries Federer reached the QF in Wimbledon 2021. The equivalent being Djokovic doing that in 2027 (he most probably is retired then). I doubt Djokovic would take a 6 year younger version of himself to 5 sets (6 in number of games since they didn't play a super tie break then). In fact, Alcaraz trashed Djokovic in the Wimbledon final of 2024 (and won in 2023 whilst Alcaraz still in his tennis adolescenti phase). Djokovic is great but peopes memories are very short and selective. He just won a match against Hijikate at an Atp250, nothing to hype on about. It's a decent win but hardly telling anything about how this year will be.

I would be shocked if GMP doesn't reach world #3 at minimum within the next 3 years. If the guy stays injury-free, the serve is just way too big to be broken -- his career is going to come down to a hell of a lot of tiebreaks, but his return game is already probably top-50. Having a top-1 service game and a top-50 return game is a top-8 player, again, at minimum. Obviously rooting for Novak, but not surprised if GMP blows him off court. Dude is a freak. Don't really like him -- don't like most servebots -- but the talent, even beyond the serve, is undeniable. Can see him giving even Alcaraz a hard time (Sinner of 2024, if he keeps up his level, would dispose of him easily with the godlike return game he has going on right now). My top-8 next gen guys (under 25): Jannik, Carlos, GMP, Shelton, Draper, Fils, Mensik, Lehecka/Rune. Sport's gonna be in good hands post-Novak, and post-lost-gen Zverev/Medvedev/Rublev/Fritz/Stefanos. 1 Slam between the 5 of them is crazy work -- blame Nole and Rafa, and then blame Sinner and Carlos...poor guys lol
