At the French Open 2023 I was definitely confident that Musetti would upset Alcaraz again and this would be a five set thriller because all the pressure would be on Alcaraz. I was deadly wrong. Musetti played very well on a high level but oh my goodness did Alcaraz raise his level to a whole new level that I haven't seen all season. He was relaxed, played freely and definitely came prepared for a tough match. How can someone enjoy a tough match smiling? Alcaraz is unbelieveable. He was relaxed, smiling and focused. He even tried to engage Musetti to be relaxed by smiling at points he lost but Musetti was deadly focused on winning. Alcaraz was focused on enjoying his match. That ended up being a great strategy for Alcaraz. It was a tough match so don't let the score line deceive you.

Alcaraz played poorly in the final here but he fought well and almost turned it around but ran out of luck. Musetti also played one of his best and razor focused matches of the year and thus deserved the title victory.

Somehow not seeing one comment how this match could have been turned on its head had the umpire got the double bounce call correct. That being said, it goes to show how flawless one has to play to get the better of Carlos Alcaraz.

You don't see any comments because the double bounce happened in the second set, which Alcaraz had then won in the tie break, so the referee's mistake didn't affect the final outcome of the match in any way. I'm certainly angry with Musetti as he missed the opportunity to make a nice gesture and above all he gave way to many people to make stupid comments.

For example (a) Against Musetti , 7 unforced on the backhand to 16 on the forehand side (b) Against Shapo, 9 to 15 (c) Against Daniel it was 12 to 24 (d) Against Cobolli it was 14 to 16. That's 42 to 71 across the entire tournament! Even counting forced errors, he is at 93 to 114 on the tournament. For comparison Djokovic is at 96 to 129!
