unowen7591 I’m not trying to undermine his success. He will go down as one of the greatest ever. But the fan-girling people do over him is just as irritating. Nadal and Djoker are just as successful as Federer but people want to lick the ground he walks on like he’s a tennis God, when he has losing records to both of those guys. Federer is great, but the second half of his career proves he isn’t the “single GOAT” that everyone makes him out to be. He hoarded his titles in the early 2000s by beating Roddick and either men in the twilights of their careers or at the start of their careers.
@masters.10004 жыл бұрын
@@mlorocker Look, Federer comes from another era of tennis, a playstyle defined in the 90s and with faster courts. Everything changed dramatically around 2008 The way he kept playing at this level after 2009 (his last "prime" year) is unbelievable, everyone from his generation ended their careers by 2010-2012 at 30-32 like it used to be back then. He adapted and not only that, he succeeded at the highest stage possible while having the disadvantage of being 6 years older than their main rivals, which were in their primes. After so many years, it's only inevitable to end behind them in some stats. In fact, Đoković only surpassed him in the H2H after AO 2016, it took him that long to get over him. Federer should have lost almost every match since 2011, given the age. And as for his rivals, I'll pick them any day over the guys from this time, apart from the Big 3. Only Murray and Wawrinka could be the exceptions. Don't forget that a washed up Ljubicic and Roddick defeated prime Nadal in 2010, or 35yo Haas defeated prime Đoković in straights in Miami.
@ankbas47184 жыл бұрын

Tennys Sandgren probably thought it was so easy to play against Federer during the 2nd and 3rd sets. While Federer was like, just hurry up, and get yourself tired and slow enough after serving 2 sets, so I can finish you off in the 4th, my groin really hurts, just don't make me run around too much. Sandgren should really have dragged long the 2nd and 3rd sets, quick sets was what Federer wanted. There was a clear gap in skills between the two, the only advantage he had was Federer's groin pain, and poorer stamina.
