I half want to see Aquaman and Namor fight but I get the feeling I know how it'll go down - Namor will beat him in five minutes. And that's conflicting because though I don't really want to see Aquaman (or rather Jason Momoa) get beaten, I do want to see Namor beat him.

Sure they could've sticked with the comics but like the earlier comment said, we've already seen similar in the DCEU, even if Namor pre-dates Aquaman. Personally, I trust Ryan Coogler with the change.

Namors has incredible importance to marvel as a whole. He was the first character ever written by marvel, the first comic hero to fly, the first king of Atlantis, the first mutant written in marvel, was one of the heroes alongside cap and bucky to fight in ww2, etc etc. I do believe he was the first character to successfully beat the hulk in a fight. Hes ancient and extremely underrated despite him paving the way for marvel as we know it. The first real powerhouse in all of marvel. This movie will bring recognition and hopefully open the door to namor getting attention in the comics. It's long past time he joins characters like hulk, thor etc as a genuine powerhouse in marvel

Yea same, although him and hulk are homies and have been a team as “the Defenders” with Hulk, Silver Surfer, and Dr Strange, he is in heavy need of a power upgrade more deserving than Thor, retconning him to be a God in the MCU is a start, with seniority like his as the first Marvel character (for crying out loud he’s almost as old as Superman and is the same age as Batman) he should be in the same league as a Hyperion, Sentry, Hulk, Blue Marvel, Cosmic Thor and should have intellect, that Rivals Richards, Stark, Breshear, Banner, McCoy etc
