Amazing!!! I want to get some old tools and refurb them, but saws have always seemed intimidating. What was the tool I used while you were making the saw teeth? The brown one that seemed like a clamp.

I think that's the sawset you're talking about! It bends the tooth a controlled amount.

Thanks! Dovetail saw is on my list as well, might make that after the big crosscut saw I'm working on now :) Honestly I lost track of time but I think about 2 hours to shape the teeth.

Great work! I'm about to do the same to one of my saws (at least replacing the handle). I like your design and take on it. Very nice! I'm too chicken to remove the tooths :-) (or mine is hardened I think, and that would be too much work without a proper forge). Bra jobbat och snyggt gjort!

Tack så mycket :D I think you have more experience than I here, but is it really worth making a new handle for a saw with hardened teeth? Since you can't sharpen it. I guess you could replace the blade when it gets dull though. My plan is kinda to phase out my hardened saws and make new handles for my non-hardened ones, but maybe I'm overthinking it?

Just immerse in white vinegar over night or longer

For rust removal? I've heard that, and I'm sure it works! Just seems like it would take a lot of vinegar.

@@GillisBjork The Vinegar is recyclable. Or also, you can immerse in water add 1/2 cup of baking soda (stir). Attach 12 Volt battery charger. One lead to the object that is rusty metal, the other lead to a piece of metal (opposite side of the object) and attach the other lead to that ....let soak over night and if really bad 2 to 3 days rinse and repeat as necessary. With most of my tools after doing the battery rust removal... I usually then Nichol plate them which give them a new appearance. Yes I buy my tools at yard sale and flea markets if the prices are right.... those tools ,depending on their age, are of better quality metal due to the alloys at the time they where made...older is better. They made things then to last ! Great blogs Sir...I so glad you are doing most of you work by hand. It show people that they don't need a ton of power tools. Doing work by hand is much more rewarding as your technique develops. Thanks
