The dreaded “VOCAL CRACK”!!! 😱…
…can actualy be one of your best tools for vocal development and is actually a very good tell tale sign that your larynx is under too much tension.
Allowing the larynx extrem freedom to be loose and jiggle up and down is a great way to alleviate unwanted weight and pressure from a chest heavy sound. (A sound that’s not allowing the vocal cords to stretch and thin properly as you ascend through your range)
EMBRACE the “VOCAL CRACK”!!! 🎶 ⭐️ 🙌

I'd say this idea applies evenmoreso to Basses, Bass-baritones and especially all voices that are particularly weighty in either colour or intensity (heldentenor, dramatic baritone, bassi profondi).
@edraith
@edraith 17 күн бұрын
As a Bass if I wouldn't apply this way of singing I'd crack around middle-C to D4, sometimes even A3 depending on day, vowel, vocal warmup... and I'm more of a bright basso cantabile or bassbaritone, not even a dramatic bass.
@edraith
@edraith 17 күн бұрын
I mean if you can sing a High F#4 without doing this you absolutely are a natural tenor voice. A Bass could never approach anywhere near that note without singing this way. A very high baritone could try to scream it or belt it but they'd likely crack. No way a baritone can sing an F#4 or even an F4 (not even an E4...) without this technique. This is not how "tenors" sing, this is how you're supposed to sing...

I actually can’t believe you’ve made this video. I’m only 5 minutes in. I have reached a point in my journey where this very idea of leaning into the vocal crack and learning how to use it is going to be beneficial. So many of your videos have reinforced my own ideas and thoughts. I’m so glad I found you.

When you listen to Giglis 1955 recordings on voice production the listener can clearly hear the singing is in his speaking voice. Gigli , such a MASTER By the way my friend I think you have vocal chords of steel and although you make it sound easy it’s not That’s why you are there, we are here Many thanks 🙏 Maestro

You did Nabucco?! I ADORE Maria Callas as Abigaille! Well, to be honest, I love her musicianship in everything she did! ...I think that you just pulled an Arden Kaywin! I've been watching her videos, and she is all about changing your mindset. Think of mistakes as tools for growth. Allow yourself to be perfectly imperfect. I have discovered recently that by embracing my mistakes in life as tools to grow stronger from, it is helping my singing as well! :) I think that I mentioned in your video about the passaggio that I want to start practicing Marchesi's bel canto vocal exercises. I started yesterday, and the first exercise is just a single note held for 3 beats, and breathing on the 4th beat. You are supposed to pay special attention to how you onset. It should be effortless, decided, and without jerkiness. For the female voice, it starts on middle C, and goes up chromatically to around F5. For me, it is helpful to envision each dotted half note as 12 sixteenth notes connected together. Your vowel grows progressively taller and more resonant the longer you sing. By thinking of it as several short notes connected together, you are already kind of in coloratura soprano mindset, and you are less likely to drag up vocal weight as you go up through both passaggios. Oh. Women's voices have 2 passaggios for anyone who doesn't know. Why am I saying all of this? It goes right along with what you said about allowing the larynx to be free to vibrate, and shedding vocal weight as you ascend in pitch... Take care. Thanks for making this video! Susan

Thank you so much for these tips, sir! I have 2 questions: 1. I can't do cracks this fast like you do, what should I do to make it fast like you do? 2. About confused tenor society, as I understood is it going to be like paid membership and if it is, please make it affordable for central asia people :D Our salaries compared to European are much lower, so "good" price for Europeans could be super expensive for us! And If I get to the point where I can easily hit up to C5 using your tips, I'm personally gonna donate you! :D Thank you again sir!!! Appreciate your tips so much keep doing it!!!

So is that where oscilation (vibratto) happens when relaxed (letting go of control) we're modulating between pitches naturally which is the application of control (inside out approach) instead of trying to control first which makes us stiff (outside in approach). Thank you Jose! Incredibly helpful. I've discovered 3 years ago The Unleashed Singer course by Draven Grey who depicts it as vocal cry" essentially the same thing you're speaking on and giving an example of, however his idea is more squeaky as a cry tends to fluctuate quickly in high pitches. I hope I'm phrasing this correctly 🙏❤️much love my tenor brother from another mother 😂

José, conoces a Paul Bruhns?
@Tenor_Simerilla
@Tenor_Simerilla 17 күн бұрын

@@user-fw9in6ei3y patience. I can’t hit the ball like Nadal on my first time at the tennis court. Don’t go for quick results. Slow and steady is progress. Start slowly feeling the yodel. And cracking with a sigh. If you don’t know how to move the larynx freely start by swallowing and then yawning. These two motions will bring your larynx up and down. And start building the coordination. Also making a glottal “guh” sound will also bring your larynx up and down. In the “G” the larynx rises and soft pállate lowers, and on the “uh” the larynx lowers into that yawn like position.

You just helped me a lot. I found this by accident one day by playing with compression and found that weird but free cartoon character voice. Completely transformed my voice in an instant. I was able to blend smoothly from bottom to top and rediscover stupid high notes I could sing in my 20s that I thought were gone or good. I never really knew what I'd done - thought it was support related but this is exactly what it was and now I can focus on my improvement properly! What a legend!
