Thanks for the video Jeff! It helped me make a decision to get a Viper S440. UPDATE: I can't imagine a better xbow or company! Mine was purchased at a local sporting goods shop already put together, the downside is 1. You have no idea how many people have shot it before you get it and 2. You don't get a box in case something happens. After sighting in and using it for hunting (long periods of full tension then de-cocking it to bring inside after no shot taken, it began making a loud squeaking noise. I contacted Ten Point and it was all taken care of at $0 cost to me within 2 weeks. The only thing I had to do was go back to the store and get a box to send it in. Ten Point paid for the freight there and back. It ended up being an issue with the brake mechanism, but I chalked that up to too many people having their hands on it before I did. I've shot it many times now in practice and it remains totally silent while cocking or de-cocking. Also an EXTREMELY accurate bow, hitting the center 1.5" black center of my bag targets whether I'm at 20, 40, 60 or even 80 yards away.

I bought this crossbow using this review as one of the reasons and I couldn't be happier. Got a robin hood sighting it in.. There was a problem with the retention system on the quiver, bolts kept falling out. I called TenPoint and there was an issue with a batch of bad rubber from their supplier. They promptly mailed me a replacement piece as well as sending me 3 new bolts and broadheads since I lost a bolt walking in one morning. Can't beat the customer service as well as the quality in the bow. I did try the lighter bolts and got 402 but I like the centerpunch bolts for that kinetic energy and pass throughs.. Thanks for the review..

Great news on the Quiver. Yes, now after having hunted with it for several weeks, I have also lost arrows and have been telling people that it sucks. I need to do an update and let people know they are fixing the problem. Thanks for watching! JJ

Make sure to tighten all screws on scope add blue locktite, with the torque of shooting scope kept losing 0. I don't particularly like the quiver mount.

I really like the accuracy, speed. But switched to a red dot because i have had a detached retina and cataracts, and would see multiple cross hair's with the scope. Sighted in at 35 yards, hold right on 0-50 yards and its good!

Great video. How is this carrying it with the sling and the quiver attached? It seems the quiver would be in the way when slung over the shoulder. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks

I just received mine last night, on clearance for a good price. Ordered from cabelas. Opened box and the bow itself was packaged nice. However, the scope was laying at the bottom of the box with no bubble wrap or anything as well as one of the screws and bracket from scope was also loose. No instructions manual for the scope either. Did you also have your scope just laying in the box? Alittle concerning considering how much I paid for the package… thanks
@BullShooterswithJeffJohnston Жыл бұрын
Yea you've gotta clamp the scope to the rail via two nuts. It has been boresighted though so it should be close to.zero at 20 yards
@tashrayt4398 Жыл бұрын
@@BullShooterswithJeffJohnston thanks. Just odd how the scope and one of the screws was rolling around in the box with no packaging. I did find the bubble wrap empty so I assume in delivery process the scope fell out but having the screw and clamp also separated off the scope rolling around was weird. I’ll shoot it after this rainy weekend to see if the scope is on target. Thanks

@@BullShooterswithJeffJohnston so I mounted the scope and shot it today. Was off 8 inches high and 3 inches right. Def not close to 0. So had to adjust and shoot about 6 times to get it zeroed in. Guess some of them don’t come as good as others when boxed up. N

I just got into crossbow hunting last year and I couldn’t find a good compound bow. I started with the Barnett Recruit, the Whitetail Pro STR, and the I ended up selling the Barnett Whitetail because the strings and cables were fraying. I had to bring the crossbow back to Bass Pro Shop because the string was fraying after shooting it a dozen times. I ended up with the Excalibur Bulldog 440 and sold the Barnett Whitetail Pro STR on eBay. Since I upgraded to the Excalibur, I did not have any problems with the string fraying and I am able to maintain the bow by myself. I have been able to change the limbs and strings with a stringer aid. I chronoed the bow at 450FPS which is the fastest bow out there still. Excalibur have a wide wide body but I love the way they look and although I would like it to be more narrow, I prefer being able to maintain the bow myself. If I’m on a hunt and the string snaps or the limbs splinter I can change it easily. You can’t do that with a Tenpoint or any compound crossbow. You will be losing a lot of hunting time if you’re trying to get your bow fixed after it either dry fires with a fraying cables/strings or is your limbs are splitting. That’s one of the reasons why I love and will always love the Excalibur Bulldog 440 or any Excalibur crossbow over any Tenpoint. I spent $1399 for my Excalibur Bulldog 440 and it comes with a silent crank that’s ambidextrous unlike the Tenpoint only being able to be cranked by a right handed individual. I would much rather save $100 off the price of the crossbow, faster, more durable, accurate, and lightweight. The only thing I don’t like about Excalibur’s is that it’s wide but I’m ok with that. I have taken a couple bucks and a few does in the blind and in a tree stand. I do like Tenpoint but I can’t justify buying into another compound bow when you can’t change/tighten the strings to fix its brace height. All new strings will stretch and therefor throwing off your accuracy and you need a crossbow vice in order for you to restring the bow or shorten the strings.

Good points, and Excalibur does indeed, make great crossbows. Two things against it, however. 1. Its bows do not take mechanical advantage--ie, modern eccentrics--and so if the bow shoots 450 fps, then its draw weight is extreme and they are very difficult to pull back for most people. If you are younger, older or have back problems, forget about it. Luckily there are crank cockers available now. Secondly, you touched on this, but they are very wide and while hunting out of a treestand this can be a huge issue. Thanks for watching bullshooters!!!

Only problem ive had with mine. Put the crank handle in your closeable pocket. The crank handle does stay locked in the stock. A new crank handle costs $70.00 plus ruins your hunt. Otherwise its a deer getter.

What Scopes would you recommend?
@BullShooterswithJeffJohnston4 жыл бұрын
Any low to mid priced Japanese (or better) scope with a second focal plane ballistic reticle is better than the Chinese POSs these xbows come with. Use the magnification adjustment to dial the scope to your bow's speed so the subtensions correspond to various yardages. If you have the cash and use your xbow all the time, go higher dollar like the trijicon acog xbow scope or zeiss conquest xbow scope. I also love the compact, 33 and 36mm Leupolds. If cost is a huge issue, read this: www.americanhunter.org/articles/2020/10/7/5-best-riflescopes-under-200/ www.americanhunter.org/articles/2020/10/7/5-best-riflescopes-under-200/

Actually sir for the money you are not getting what you are paying for the bow supposed to be shooting 400 ft to second and with the arrows that came with it it shoots 365 feet per second that's not even close they should have give the370grain arrows that they shot out of that crossbow to get the 400 ft per second but myself I will just stick with my Ravin crossbow it shoots 409 with a 400 grain Arrow

I bought this product 5 days ago. Took it out yesterday to sight it in. Within a handful of shots the acuslide cord started to fray. 4 to 8 weeks for a repair and I now miss bow season after spending thousands. I will NEVER recommend this company or any products. Terrible. As a Canadian customer they told me to politely F off and I have to deal with a service center locally. Can't even buy the part myself from them. I also have to pay labor and shipping costs. I wish I never bought from this company.
