This sums up some issues quite nicely. The first fella assuming the police are wrong and covering themselves (and also spreading the misinformation). And the 2nd part where the police would rather escalate the situation and ask fir forgiveness rather than create a calm situation.
@justdan85232 жыл бұрын
The issue is firearms, it takes just seconds for someone to pull out a gun and shoot you, the situation was Highley volitile so both the suspect and police officer are scared of being shot which creates a hostile environment. This is the same for real life in America its fear that drives volitile situations and that drives the negative narrative.
@akkiko2 жыл бұрын
@@justdan8523 ^ Just the potential existence of a firearm in every situation already sets the default at 50 in the scale of 1-100. De-escalation is that much harder when everyone is thinking "That guy's got a gun and I'm in danger." 2nd amendment really ain't doin' any of y'all favors at this point. *1) That's his son?? Did he have the kid when he was 10 years old?* *2) **7:10** This is the real problem. Cop came in without hostility but the dumbass decided to get defensive for no reason instead of just be a good citizen and attempt to help an officer. This made the officer suspicious.* *3) **5:55** Notice how the woman knew she was innocent, simply complied and let the officers in to check her home, remained calm and just answered any questions. She had no issues and didn't get a gun pointed in her face.* *That's the real issue here. People with attitudes toward officers who are just trying to do their job. It's a hard life and people don't realize this. People often forget Police are humans too, who just like you and me, want to get through the day alive and make sure they can get back home to see their family. Give an officer suspicion to point a gun in your face, and they will. At the end of the day, it **_is_** easier to ask for forgiveness than to ask for permission. Asking for permission can get them killed. And citizens not complying and trying to make things difficult will draw suspicion and potentially get you killed. You have nothing to hide, so why are you trying so hard to give the officer a reason to want to shoot you??*

the problem (ignore race) is that the police escalated the situation and pulled out a gun in a tense situation instead of explaining his question. Now when you add race in to it, and a lot of black people have grown up not trusting the police it makes the situation worse. The only way to change that image is to show you are just human, and there to protect them. Like instead of pulling out his gun, he could have explained what he was looking for.

@@papabumba478 *Explanation: "There was an incident this morning, the old seminary... You shouldn't mind if we ask you a few questions."* *Response: "I should and I do."* *Why? Why should answering a few questions be an issue? And why should he mind? In this specific scenario, the black guy was clearly over sensitive and made the situation hostile unnecessarily.*
@papabumba4784 жыл бұрын
AzNightmare They just talked to the woman who makes it pretty clear this neighborhood has been told that 2 innocent people including a kid got shot, because the police screwed up. It also indicates that this neighborhood has had it’s fair share of run ins with the police and don’t trust them. Him saying no to answering questions isn’t a reason to pull out his gun. We see many times on this show that people refuse to answer questions, yet they don’t normally get a gun pointed at them. Until the police have evidence, the civilians are who they are trying to protect. Instead of going straight to the gun, he could have gone in to slightly more detail and saying that they need his help. If he continued to reject it, you can escalate it. I know police don’t want to waste time, but it’s rebuilding bridges they burned down.

That's easy until you consider the psychology of the community. Generations of racial hatred and being told by 'community leaders' that the other side wishes that they were still slaves. Being told from childhood that a cop would as soon shoot you dead as look at you for walking while black. No-one is cooperating in those scenarios. He was *expecting* Ruzeck to start shooting because he was white and could see a black face. Ruzeck, meanwhile, was expecting the guy to start shooting *because* he was black and in the general area as a crime scene. Hate and fear multiplies hate and fear until neither side can feel anything else. Then you have the politicians trying to make easy votes out of it and deliberately trying to escalate for their own selfish advantage.
