@user-dw8mj8tb2l $250/hr is within the realm of possibility. The problem is with the hours billed, especially with all the vacations the two of them appeared to be taking at the time. In order to get to the number, what I heard last to be $700k, he'd be working every single day, without a day off other than weekends, plus a ton of overtime. No public holidays, no vacations, nothing and then add 720 hours of overtime on top (assuming he didn't bill a higher overtime rate). Is it technically feasible? Yes. Does it smell like the two of them were using the county as their own personal piggy bank? Yes.

That doesn't even make sense ! "What would happen if a task took longer than 24 hours to complete " ??? You bill for however long it took (!!?) Clearly you have not understood this at all. Are you seriously saying a contractor bills every single day for the work done that day when contracted to perform a particular task/project ? He is asked to do a specific job - and that means 2 hours on one day - 3 hours on another, and so on. He will then add up the total hours spent on that job - in this case 24. Simple isn't it ? The stupid attempt to make him say he billed 24 hours for one day is pathetic and failed miserably. Often contractors, builders, lawyers etc cannot complete a project in a single day. The way he billed for it is sensible and consistent with accountancy protocols. My accountant does not bill me every time they do some work for me - they add up the number of hours and bill me accordingly - usually monthly - and that is precisely how most professional contractors invoice for their services. @@BeerWagoon

Quite simply for a non-exempt employee. Pull the time card and cross reference against the pay stub. You will see the dates and times the employee was “on the clock” performing work. Your argument does not make sense as he was invoicing time as an independent contractor, his invoice should still be broken down outlining the days work was preformed as is common for legal billing due to the fact that he is not billing a flat rate for each “project”. The document being talked about is the record that keeps track of how many hours he worked each individual day. Wade is attempting to claim that the way he does payroll is he bills how many hours a task took when he completes the task on random days throughout the week. It never had a range of dates, we'd work on the project for 2-3 weeks depending on the size of the install and they'd bill for the project completed on X date with XX hours (Usually 2-3 people on the install, sometimes we had as many as 5 people.) The invoice would list something like "360 hours @ 20.50" (The techs only made $10/hour at the time, but the company billed around $20.50/hour. This was 20 years or so ago.) There was never an itemized list that even showed how many people were on the job or how long it took. It could be 3 people taking 3x40 hour weeks for the 360 hours, or it could be 5 people doing a 40 and a 32.
