@@DaveAnchovies I heard, in relation to that incident, that Quine left a savage burn phone message on Sweet's answering machine complaining about what a terrible person he was for mixing him off the record and telling him he'd never work with him again.
@DaveAnchovies3 жыл бұрын
@@danielstoddart yeah, he was basically mixed out at times, i doubt Sweet was the one to to blame... thats what the phone call was about. LLoyd and Quine played all over the lp, on different songs....100% Fun was as good as anything Sweet put out, Altered Beast remains my favorite, though. Quine is a master of the stratocaster...even when he's not shredding, he's at toning it down, but both guitar gods. Something about Quine...self taught, looks mellow but in fact, was a wild man. they can be hard to differentiate...both fed of the others style which is totally distinctive.
@danielstoddart3 жыл бұрын
@@DaveAnchovies I got to hang out with Quine at Manny's Music when he was buying guitars. He was a nice guy but his style was that he was straight on the outside but bent on the inside; way more punk than the guys with spiky hair and safety pins in their shirt and piercings everywhere. It's tragic what happened to him because he was absolutely a phenomenal player...could blow a lot of people right off the stage, and I'm talking the big name famous guitar players that everybody mentions.

I had to thumbs down this comment. Why? Because, this stuff is what Liner Notes are for. I'm 39 and I'm talking about how in my day you used to buy a CD and then read all of the fine print in the booklet to find out who played what parts on what songs and where the thing was recorded and who mixed it in another state and wonder why Matthew Sweet was published by BMI and not ASCAP. I saw him play in Nashville in 1994 (Altered Beast tour) & the lead guitarist from the opening band came out to play with him (they were called something-Jonestown Massacre, I think?). He was good, though, even though his band had gotten booed offstage. Probably not the best idea to open a Matthew Sweet show with a scream metal band 🤷♂️😂 Matthew Sweets shows were a lot of fun, never knew who was gonna join in... Had that happen once seeing 10,000 Maniacs with a GF (she wanted to go) & Michael Stipe comes out & they do "Don't Go Back To Rockville"... Ah, the 90s. ♥️
