One unique place I have seen these comb graves is right in the middle of a large suburb and the graves are at an intersection in that neighborhood. They just built the roads, homes around the graves. This is in North Sparta area heading out towards Cookeville.

I have relatives buried in Roaring River Cemetery in Livingston (Overton County). While none of my kin are buried in tent/comb graves, there are quite a few in the cemetery. There are even some graves topped with coffin-shaped slabs of stone!

@@TheCemeteryDetective Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Sparta also has some of these graves. Some of the flat stones are being stolen from these graves. I'm really glad to see someone documenting this long forgotten custom. Just a note Some of the old folk used to say these were indian graves.

HA! Yes...my family as well. Except we don't use Davis cemetery anymore and Lost Creek is the current one where most are buried. I just saw another video where someone was making the most ignorant assumption that these were "witch graves".

Visit 'Old Tenant Cemetery' in Manalapan New Jersey, it has graves dating back to the Revolutionary war. The cemetery is said the be haunted. Theres also a church within the cemetery that was used as a a hospital during the Revolutionary war and there are still bloodstains visible in the last row of seats

Thanks for sharing! I have always loved visiting graveyards and cemeteries. I recently went on a church and graveyard tour with my local library in Scott County, Georgetown, KY. It was the best tour to go on and knowing others enjoyed visiting graves as I do! I have a few favorites but Bethel Church in Lexington, KY is always a place I visit. I was constantly drawn to it and recently found another reason why. My mom told me that she did go to that church as a young lady, pregnant with me! Her uncle was the minister there. It is amazing how I felt connected to that place before I even knew why. I had even dreamt of it. Also, at age 10, I will never forget my uncle coming over to the house to tell my mom how a ghost followed him from that graveyard/church. I do not disrespect the dead at all. I quite enjoy their company and I love visiting the graves. I am so glad my teacher recommended your videos for our genealogy course!

I often feel connected to the cemeteries I visit. Almost as if I draw an affinity to the personalities that are buried there. I'm not sure I can properly describe it. Thank you for commenting and subscribing, I appreciate it.

I doubt you would ever come visit my most favorite cemeteries as I live in Douglas County, Oregon. There is one cemetery in Roseburg called the Odd Fellow's Cemetery which is an upward hike to get to the top graves. The other two cemeteries are in Polk and Benton Counties, Oregon. The Montgomery Cemetery just outside of Pedee, Polk, Oregon (in the southern most part of the county. The King's Valley Cemetery is just within Benton County about a mile or so from a covered bridge. They are easy to find with just a little effort (or asking around). Good hunting to you in your part of the country.
