Fun facts: The wand company asked David Tennant's agent if they could borrow his screwdriver and David said yes so it could be made as accurately as possible and was given one of the first universal sonics as thanks, this was during the time that David was about to film The Day Of The Doctor so he used a prop from millenium fx for the 50th anniversary special. Also you can turn any TV on and off in fx mode by clicking it three times and holding down on the third. Another cool thing is that if you click it seven times there's a secret noise, but don't hold down. Again thanks for the amazing review and I can't wait for more Magnoli reviews, thanks!

Thanks! Yeah, Eleven's looks really cool (and comes with a neat display case), but personally I don't think it works very well. It doesn't have a rechargeable battery, it doesn't extend, and it doesn't seem to figure out which gesture you're doing very well.

great video! Just a few questions before I buy this 1. when the slider is up does it stay locked up in the position or does it slide down? 2. Can you make the sound fx noise in fx mode whilst moving the slider up? 3. Does it feel cheap or tacky in the hand, or un solid like if you dropped it once it would break or smash into a million pieces? Thanks:)
@TDMStyle8 жыл бұрын
+Eli Nathan Thanks! The slider clicks/locks into position at the bottom (fully closed) and top (fully opened) so it does not slide around. Yes, you can make sound effects while moving the slider, as long as you can manage to keep your thumb pressing the button ;) And it definitely feels solid (half of it is made of aluminum so it has a nice weight to it). I've dropped mine a couple times and it has been okay, but I could see the emitter end taking some damage if you were to drop it straight onto a cement floor or something of that nature.

I dont have any remote actually i lost it so i wanted to buy it to have a remote but i can see that we need a remort to program, my question is, can we program it with the button on the tv ?
@TDMStyle8 жыл бұрын
I don't think so - when you program it, you need to point your actual remote at the emitter so that it reads the IR output. When you press the buttons directly on the TV, there is no IR transmission, so I don't think it would do anything.
@PurpleBB8 жыл бұрын
+TenthDoctorMatt well that's to bad but i suppose that if it would work without remote it would be illegal because we could use it on every single object using ir

Do you have to connect the sonic screwdriver to other systems before you use it or can you just take control of them without having to link the screwdriver to it ?
@TDMStyle9 жыл бұрын
+badman123491 It has a "TV begone" button press that can turn on/off most TVs without needing to program it, but for all the other functions, you need to program it with your actual TV remote.

does the FX mode still control your tv when your performing the gesture, if you have programmed a tv to the sonic. or is the FX mode just a play mode?
@TDMStyle8 жыл бұрын
+cyberderp FX mode basically turns it into a prop. The basic on/off still works for many TVs, but for other gestures it has to be in control mode and programmed to your TV.

I have this Sonic, I absolutely love, but as funny as this may sound, I kinda regret buying it. I had just finished the Tennant Era when I bought it, and I didn't like Matt Smith very much (ironic considering he is my all time fav Doctor), so I decided to buy this one. Now I look back and wish I had bought the 11th Doctor one. But hopefully, I will buy it on January, alongside the Purple Frock Coat and either the Chevron Bow Tie by Magnoli or the 50th anniversary Bow Tie by AbbyShot. Anyway, just wanted to say, great video, Matt!
@TDMStyle10 жыл бұрын
Thanks! That's kind of funny because Tennant is my favorite Doctor (obviously) but I ended up with Matt Smith's universal remote first, from when I bought the blu-ray box set of the show.

I never really watched Dr.who, but i still struggle to figure how thats in any way remotely a screwdriver? did it unscrew screws in some strange way on the show? no bits needed!
@TDMStyle6 жыл бұрын
Haha it’s more of a multi-purpose tool that’s used for all sorts of stuff from unlocking doors to hacking electronics. I think they just called it a screwdriver for simplicity’s sake 😂
@twincitiestara6 жыл бұрын
Yes. In Classic Who turning screws at a distance was the ONLY thing the sonic screwdriver did. The Doctor would cleverly use that function to pick locks (by turning the internal tumblers), activate devices and detonators (by rigging up rotary switches), and occasionally disrupt androids of various sorts by twisting around their internal controls, diodes, etc. It was only after the 2005 reboot that it essentially became a magic wand that operates computers by pointing at monitors, re-attaches barbed wire, scans for stuff, stores data, etc. Everything but affect wood, because reasons. In the age of the iPhone, I guess young viewers would find it weird to carry around a whole device that only does one task.

Am I the only one having battery issues with this? I've charged it overnight for a good 10hours and it runs for about one hour on control mode before then complaining about low power. Anybody else with this?
@TDMStyle8 жыл бұрын
+silkanator1999 Hmm. I usually only use mine in FX mode and it lasts forever - I'm fairly sure that control mode constantly uses battery (whereas FX only uses it when a button is pressed) - should say in the manual somewhere. But to me that sounds really low. I'd contact The Wand Company - from what I've heard, they're very good about replacing them :)
@silkanator19998 жыл бұрын
+TenthDoctorMatt I just worry as yes it does last for a good 4 hours with decent amounts of usage on fx mode, and being a cosplayer I wanted it specifically for my 10th doctor cosplay. I've considered a portable charging bank but it's just extra money on top of the £68 I've already paid for it. Think I may just stick with it and either take a spare cheap screwdriver or get the battery pack. Anyway thank you for responding. And you're vids have really helped with my cosplaying thank you.
@TDMStyle8 жыл бұрын
+silkanator1999 I'm happy to be of help! And hm, 4 hours of use in FX mode seems low too. When mine is in FX mode, I can make it through an entire 3 day con without needing to charge it again (not super heavy use, but still). I'd guess your battery has an issue - def contact the company and see of they'll fix or replace it for you :)

Just a tiny little correction. This is not the most screen-accurate Sonic out there. The Celestial Toystore one is even better, but it's around 350-400 pounds, rather expensive. Oh, and you currently have 420 subscribers. Huehuehue
@TDMStyle10 жыл бұрын
Maybe that expensive one is slightly more accurate in looks alone, but it has no functionality (besides the fact that it's ridiculously expensive and hard to find). So considering that this one also produces the light and various sound effects (and it costs about 1/4 of the price) I'd say it's the best you can get.
@Norway60410 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I completely agree
@okielegopro10 жыл бұрын
God of potatoes your actually wrong It is not screen accurate The remote was scanned off of a prop from the show Yeah the button is clear and the cap comes off but that's for the remote feature that's all The remote is a much better and cheaper choice
@untimelyvideos9 жыл бұрын
+deanspie67 You're definitely wrong. CT also had access to the props and I assure you that his replicas are exact to each millimeter. There are a few things wrong with the Wand Company sonic, but it is still VERY close.
@TDMStyle9 жыл бұрын
Untimely Videos My problem with CT is not their screen accuracy, but the fact that the guy running the show over there is a major internet bully to his "customers." His behavior is absolutely disgusting, and the complete opposite of a good business model. What sort of business person would berate, swear at, make fun of, and encourage trolling of their customers?? Besides that, he charges outrageous prices (for example, he is trying to sell the INCORRECT St. George by Duffer anniversary tie as the screen-worn for $127, while the CORRECT one can still be bought from Debenhams for $21, and he has a pompous attitude about it). I would never spend a penny of my money on that guy, regardless of how accurate his sonics might be. End rant.
