Nicely done, Sam. Just an FYI - I was in Scouts for 35 years, man and boy, and one major concern was always tentage; what kind, how big? When I was your age, all tents were still Canvas, and the types you showed here are pretty much what was available until around 1985. Then Nylon started to take on the tent role (especially when rip-stop came along, then rain-tight) and much Rounder shapes took over. Personal note: when on Summer Camp staff, for 4 years, I spent 3 seasons in a Wall. LOVED it!> we could roll up the sides, tie back the doors and have nothing between us and Nature but the roof! Talk about Flow-Thru' Ventilation!! That one year? A Sibley type, but WW I style.

Make sure you put the top button row on the shelter tent with the open end facing down. Otherwise you’ll be wet when it rains.

Sure would, thanks for the advice.

Thank you for the explanation, looking to buy and A-Frame, also may I ask where you purchased your Confederate coat from?
@historyinaction1861 Жыл бұрын
Nice, I have two Confederate coats, one (a gray sock coat) I bought from C&C Sutlery, and the other (my better butternut shell jacket) I received from a retiring reenactor, and I do't know where he got it from. Thanks for asking.

Imagine the test open to the weather like that.....strong winds would blow right thru it.

Absolutely, the shelter half did not do a great job at keeping the wether out and some soldiers even preferred to sleep on the ground.
