Valorant wasn't meant to be CS, the game has to evolve over time the same way league did to keep it's players. Till this day I remember people shitting on plants being added to league till they actually played and realized it is an amazing change for the game. RIOT has a bad history of balancing characters but they aren't fortnite. They won't make a change that destroys the competitive side of the game, it will just shift the meta. With the addition of this we might see less reyna or clove players, we will find out soon enough.

Remember players that the game will eventually shift to UE5 and also will add a ban system. We don't know the full vision the developers have for valorant but they won't certainly make it beyond playable.

Literally just a nice gimmick to help spice up the game a bit. It still is a light shield that you get 1 tapped in the head by phantom or outlawed, but if it's SLIGHTLY cheaper than heavy shield, it allows you to use the extra money to get an ability. Outlaw countered light shield buys, but this armor type allows players to still buy light armor with a bit of a bonus. Is this op? not at all, the time to kill (ttk) in valorant is fast and has no difference in a pure open 1v1. What about clutch rounds/chip damage? again if your teammate calls more than half health dmg, the regen at most will make you shoot at most 1 extra bullet, but if you're playing it correctly, you should just win the fight without caring about health, you should be winning by being able to shoot first or play the clutch correctly. and its 1 extra bullet damage, are we really grieving over that?

Okay, but is that bad? And like the other reply says, you still die more easily initially and more guns are one tap against it. Maybe it's a decent addition, just giving a little more dynamicism to the armor play and economy.

I think the new shield will have diminishing returns the higher rank you are. If you get headshot, your shields dont matter especially since even a phantom can 1 shot you.

This shield is trash, if it's about 600 creds, why would anyone but it unless they're facing a team with heavy DMG Util? Light armor will outperform this cost-wise 95% of the time

@@OllieCantAim because marginal differences are still differences. When you can pick an agent that is slightly better, why wouldn’t you? You can still very easily play any other agent in ranked and do just as well. In fact id MUCH rather have a gekko on ascent who comfortable than a sova who isnt. The number of times those sovas have solo lost games is remarkable. Using stats as the sole metric for balance is silly. Look at the actual agents too.

@@OllieCantAim agents dont correlate to skill tho. You can play deadlock and reach radiant. its balanced, the only time its unbalanced is in pro play. Even in high level ranked, you can win with a shit comp if the players are just better. Agent picks just give you different/more options, but that doesn't mean its terribly unbalanced. Valorant is extremely balanced compared to many competitive games.
