That is a Do-228 at the 3:27 point. The D0-228 is said to hold 11 passengers plus 3 crew. I counted 14 passengers getting on, most with backpacks (yes it matters). In 2010 a D0-228 out of Katmandu (for that same airline) crashed, killing all 14 onboard. Cause of crash was "controlled flight into ground". They had some equipment fail (both generators) and battery backup power failed early. I wonder why this D0-228 was so heavily loaded? In 2012 the same airline had another Do-228-12 go down. Some sources state the D0-228 can carry 18 passengers. There are multiple upgraded versions of the 228. The D0-288 is a very good airplane with obvious short takeoff and landing capabilities. Lots of high tech features in the airframe of the d0-228. The Do-228-12 has 5 bladed props. The plane I reference at the 3:27 point has 4 bladed props so it is not the upgraded (carries more passengers) version of the 228. I pray for all the people that lost their lives in the crashes I mention.

Most of the commuter aircraft in that particular category are designed to haul 19 passengers, because above that number you're required to have a flight attendant.
@spooky36695 жыл бұрын
I don't know where you get your information but the 9N-AJH is a DO-228-212 and has 18 seats. But let's give you the benefit of the doubt. Even then the DO-228-212 (with 11 seats as you say) has a fuel capacity of 2252 kg with an endurance of 7.5 hours. That means a fuel consumption of 300 kg per hour. (I read in the specs its less than 200 kg (according to payload I guess) A round trip VNKT - VNKL is 40 min. make that 1 hour (easy counting) with un-loading at VNKL with the SB engine running. Now let's divide that fuel by 2 = 1126 kg (or do you really think they fly fully fueled for a 40 min. round trip?) That makes 100 kg per 20 min. flight time = roughly counting 5 round trips. (which a single DO-228 they never does) DO-228's flying to Lukla take on 600 kg of fuel (seen in another cockpit video) That leaves over 1 Ton in weight reserve. I think 3 more passengers with heavy baggage is not going to effect anything! But do you really think an airline is going to take on more passengers then there are seats and can't buckle up, and what seat number is their ticket? Never my friend, rest assure there are 18 seats!!!
@danr51055 жыл бұрын
@@spooky3669 I looked up either the airport or the accident. I refer to the wikipedia page for that figure of 11 as far as passenger capacity. Myself. I always resit using a transportation device that while still within specs is loaded to capacity. Have you ever driven a 1 ton full size van (perhaps 13 passengers) These vehicles while within design do not handle well at all when fully loaded. I did make note as to the discrepancy in published passenger capacity, in my initial post. Some pages did say 18, one page did say 11, Wikipedia can be wrong. In writing class we were not allowed to use Wikipedia as a citable source. OH, yes I believe "in that part of the world" the rules just may get bent. The crew did bend the rules in regards to using a checklist properly (in the 2010 flying into the ground crash)
@mdbailey775 жыл бұрын
I flew a 228 outfitted for 18 pax and 2 crew. However, you can take seats out easily and use it for cargo, pax, parachute jumpers, etc. It’s a heck of a versatile work horse.

@ghostrider8885 жыл бұрын
@5putput No you misunderstood where I was coming from. I just saying that passengers would know who to look out for to get directions. This is from a safety point of view and to keep things running more smoothly. And if passengers needed assistance they would know who to talk to.
@kallewirsch22635 жыл бұрын
@@ghostrider888 Directions? What do you need directions for? You step out of the plane, the entrence to the building is 20 meters away. YOu just make sure to not run into the propeller. But there are guys waving with their arms and giving you a sign to move on. Nobody needs directions for that. If you are going to climb into the Everest area you should be person enough to understand how life works.
@ghostrider8885 жыл бұрын
@@kallewirsch2263 It may not be directions it could help with something but why is irrelevant , My comment was just because at other airports and most work places staff always do I just wondered why they didn't at this airport.
