I keep coming back to this video because I have one on order!!!! I'm an Oberhiem Enthisiast with an OBX8, OB-6, Matrix 6 and and Matrix 1000 with a Steroping Matrix Programmer and PolyChainer to stack the 2 Matrixes together for a "custom" programmable 12 voice Oberheim!!! I even own overlapping Oberheim VSTs from Arturia and GForce (and the newest addition the OB-1).... "Some Things Are Better Than Others"

This is great. I can see these selling like hotcakes not just to professionals who want something fairly portable but a 16 year old with some motivation and a Summer job could (fairly) easily afford this and have a rewarding experience . And to think I never understood why my parents wouldn’t buy me a Prophet 5 in 1978 😂.

What a fantastic channel you have ! I remember on an early Ober cutting a commercial track in a studio in the 80s. They hadn’t used one much and they wanted “the big bottom end.” The engineer wasn’t ready for it. I believe they replaced the studio’s woofers. 😂 I used to cut a lot of commercials, that was the only destruction I recall 🤣

Damn! I own, and have owned my OB-Xa since the mid 80's and absolutely LOVE it. I have always said when looking at new keyboards of today, oh let's see if they have any Oberheim stuff on here, and sure enough, there is at least some Oberheim type sounds on most new boards. Then what do I say? Well, I own an actual OB-Xa. Why would I want something that reproduces that? Well, here ya go. Now I want this too! It's smaller in size, way smaller, and sounds just as big. I gotta check one out for myself. Maybe this will be for my carry around/travel version. Thanks Doc. Yet another great video from you.

Nice piece of gear....I just found out that many of those effects are guitar effects pedals....that you can connect most synthesizers to to get those effects as well. For those who dont already have a guitar and effects pedals, it will save you some money buying the effects pedals.

It is super great to see Tom Oberheim building synths. I bought the OBX8 and I am looking for something like a Matrix 12 but add poly AT and keep the note-down velocity tracking speed as well as note-off velocity tracking speed. The Polybrute 12 is one approach but when you think of modular polyphonic with that special sound, it is hard not to have the Matrix-12 in mind.

I am so pleased with my Take 5 that I can really see this one becoming a legend. The easy to access split and transpose functionality does not make you miss a bigger keybed most of the time. Only downside for me is the lackluster Arp and Sequencer section of the Take 5...

I imagine you will see a lot of these over peoples Rev 4’s. Love that that went with state variable filter, based on OB-6. The tone of this easily competes with the other OB’s and has solid effects section and complex mod matrix

At 6:42, the chorus was actually a step up from the Roland chorus. Nice piece to replace some Roland gear and Prophets from the 8ties. And it keeps memory, just for these old codgers, who dwell into them and do not want to take note of the settings anymore. Good stuff.
