This is a very backwards way of doing this. I've done web hosting in the past, and I can say that it's actually MORE expensive to maintain old and out of date servers, especially when they don't receive security updates anymore. As a way to reduce operational costs for the provider, the usual strategy is to raise the cost on the old infrastructure higher than the newer infrastructure to incentivize the customer to make the switch. That way the customer is happy because their bill is lower and they get updated software, and the provider can decommission the old servers and save money. Something tells me this web hosting business doesn't understand some basic business principles.

@@CorruptedDogg it’s backward if the hosting company is honest. What makes you think that the hardware is obsolete and can’t get OS updates anymore? I have been a sysadmin for years and we did major OS update on hardware. Parka did upgrade the hardware and OS, paid more and they screwed the migration and it didn’t solve the performance issue. So much for “being backward”

It's not illegal to provide lousy service. That's why reviews are important.
