Great job explaining the fundamental areas in the first minutes, the first review I tried to watch didn’t do that. I almost wish this game had less randomized set-up, haha, there’s too much to take in. I’m thinking Vital Lacerda when I look at this board. You also pronounced Teotihuacan nearly perfectly (certainly best among reviewers) and also said cacao and not cocoa, way to go you cultured dude !! Great review, you proved your mastery on explaining this beast !!

while i demonstrated the randomized setup, there is a non-random setup 'baked on' to the board, which puts everything in a streamlined layout (and has preset tiles at the palace as well). so it's a good intro to the game that way :)

@9:05 She gets 2 in change, and Richard grabs the right amount but says 3 in change.

At 24'55", while discussing temple bonus tiles: The tile on the blue temple does NOT give points for UNIQUE discovery tiles. This tile means "Score 2 points for EVERY non-mask discovery tile you have (used or unused)." Rulebook, page 24. Mask tile do not count, because they are scored in every eclipse scoring. And after that he also says it's a race to grab these tiles. However, you do not remove them (as implied by grab the tile). You earn the end game bonuses when you have hit the tile or when you have passed it. Only 1 player may pass the temple bonus tile on each track.

Cool game! Teotihuacan is actually pronounced Tay-oh-tee-WAH-kahn (the accent in the Nahuatl language is always placed on the penultimate syllable).

I know the next question is unrelated to the video, but I have been wondering... What do you think about Wendake? Do you like it? I'm indecisive about it and your judgement could help me decide =S.

thought it was really cool looking with the very neat action selection system, but didn't like the player conflict/area control stuff so never tried it

Having the dice obscure the graphics of the board seems...fiddly... (lower left in this game)

Simple? Viticulture is simple, Stone Age is simple; this game is not simple, imo. It's slightly above center mid weight, at the least.

i was trying to underscore that the central rondel mechanism that drives everything is quite simple :)

Something about the overall art direction of the board just puts me to sleep and doesn't excite me at all. I'd def have to play this in person to see if I'd enjoy it.

I think, that you play colour icon on building tiles wrong. If you place tiles, you must connect colour icon to other colour icon with the same colour. If not, you cant progress on cult track.
@PauloRenato23
@PauloRenato23 6 жыл бұрын
You are wrong, Richard played correctly... from the rules: "If you scored 1 Victory Point for an icon that is red , green , or blue on the Decoration tile (the colour of the icon that is being covered does not matter), also advance on the corresponding temple." The same is said for the construction of the Pyramid

Another game with dummy player. You should think about making Top 10 Games with Dummy Player.

It was a great material. What I mean, usually people avoid to play multiplayer games for two (or more) with dummy player, because they think it is something not optimal in gaming experience. Even on BGG games with dummy player, are often rated really low as two player experience. And dummy player + low ratings on BGG works like snowball, so people avoid those kind of games. I think those people lose some great gaming experiences, because of dummy player. As I watch your materials, I often see, that you play those games and it is fun for you. Often In your materials dummy player is not a pain in ass. He is easy to implement. He tight board or just make a crowd and make multiplayer games very good experiences for two players. Sometimes he works independent from players and in the other cases, players can have some impact on him or can play with him against oponents. So he as a guy or girl look as a great help for players, but they often avoid to play games with him, so he stay alone on the shelf. Often he is not so hard to use. Personally I think you make a great job to invite him on our tables. Your materials make him a funny guy playing with us. So I thought about material similar to those two about boards when you speak about beautiful boards and about unique boards that make great gaming experiences. I think this often hated dummy player can do really great game experiences and is not a pain in ass.

I wouldn't really call it a dummy player here. There's no real upkeep or AI there, you just move a couple dice as obstacles. They don't take full turns.

The sound quality is definitely worse than it was in the old days of clip on mike. Alot of distortion. Uncomfortable on the ears.
