I feel this process is so all over the place based on who you watch or listen to. Definitely appreciate the "quicker" process. I appreciate you showing the process when you have different lighting throughout your project. That's one thing no one talks about. I like the idea of one adjustment layer and color correction for the whole project, but that's just not feasible for my work flow. I always have light and dark scenes that need different corrections. Anyway, thanks again.

Which LUT package you use in this video?
@ddespair Жыл бұрын
The "Custom LUT" is under "Color" in your effects browser, for those who were looking for it. Also I've been loading the main log conversion in the clip itself under "info". I'm not sure if this is better or worse than using an adjustment layer, or if this is just part of the time saving. Great video though!

Very helpful. It gets very time consuming when I‘ve got many clips split and mixed around and color temp is all over the place and needing to fix it for each clip. In thst instance its almost better to color correct exposure before I start splitting and mixing things around. 🧐

Then I edit the pasted adjustments if needed as you did in the final step. Although I think I’ll need to try using an adjustment layer now. Thanks for the tips Teppo! 🙂

So I joined motion array just to try it out, I wouldn't suggest it to anyone. Absolutely no hate towards Matti, i've been watching his content for years. Motion array provides you with many options for s-log luts but they come in packs of 30, 60, 250..... which maybe 1 or 2 luts out of each pack look decent. I'm not back to this video contemplating on purchasing Matti's lut package lol

Now I'm wondering, as I'm getting my A7 IV soon and my ZV-1 also has S-log (by the way, you inspired me to get this camera), now I know that Matti's correction LUTs will work but if I get a drone someday (I'm looking at the Mini 3 Pro now), I assume I will need a different correction LUT for the drone footage? Could you show in another video, how you match footage from these different cameras together or briefly explain that? 🙂

Hi Teppo, great video as I have been struggling with this area so thank you first of all. I have one question. You show the LUTs and how you use them, and I have the first pack and will buy your other pack now, however what do you have in the RAW to Log Conversion drop down in the Inspector panel? I assume that is set to none? If you could confirm, that would be great thanks !! Keep up the good work and don't you dare stop this channel :) we need you !!!

@elseson_ Жыл бұрын
Hey Teppo! Thanks for the Tutorial!!! I have a technical question to your process (the 3 steps). If I film in Slog-3 and as a first step apply a LUT to get Rec709 and only later do color correction and color grading; I'm not sure about the order of the steps. Wouldn't it be better to first correct and grade the footage and as a last step add the LUT and convert to Rec709 (to preserve the dynamic range)? I ask because I thought if you add the LUT first you lose the information that the LOG-File contains? Maybe I miss here something. Does the order of steps even matter?
@elseson_ Жыл бұрын
My bad. Just finished the tutorial and realized that you actually changed the order later!

How come you don't shoot with S-Gamut3 with S-Log 3? I'd imagine more dynamic range from the S-Gamut 3 would be better especially considering it's the same process to get it back to a 709 colour space.

But when I introduce the Atomos Ninja, which still doesn't have the S-Cinetone option for recording, of course it all goes wrong. I just wondered if you have ever tested your method using an Atomos and whether some how you got it to work? Unlikely as I don't think I have ever seen you use one, but thought I would ask. I will continue to badger Atomos to add this profile to the Atomos Ninja in the meantime. thanks
