In Spanish, limón IS the word for lemon. The Spanish for lime is lima for the fruit, or either tilo or limero agrio for the lime tree.

This is something that varies across the Spanish-speaking world, it's not the same everywhere. In some countries it's actually the opposite.

Yay for the Cocktails After Dark channel! I purchased a couple of different bitters but haven't used them yet. This looks like a terrific option to me. Cheers! 🍹😋👍

After you first aired this, I tried it and it’s quickly become one of my favorite cocktails. So easy to make too. Love everything you do, Glen!

1:36 - I like to think that was a Robert Hess reference there :) I literally say "eh, I like bitters" to myself every time I add an extra dash, in honor of him lol

I haven't tried too much Tequila so I'd like to try this. Margarita's give me a headache with how sweet they are.

@Wakkajakka I recommend making 'em with a 7:5:5 ratio of mezcál (NOT tequila) _reposado_ to Cointreau to lime juice. (Easy numbers: 3-1/2 ounces mezcál, 2-1/2 ounces Cointreau, or even better Paula's Texas Orange liqueur if you can get it, 2-1/2 ounces lime juice. LOSE the simple or gomme syrup.) Pour into a generously iced Boston shaker, shake well, and double-strain. That big a dose of lime, I find, allays the cloying sweetness of most machine-made and bar-made 'ritas. Again, if you can find it ... I'm partial to Lajita brand mezcál. It has a pronounced smoky flavour, reminiscent of a milder Islay Scotch.

A good margarita without simple syrup is the key

A traditional margarita isn't very sweet. The problem is that the ones you've had are probably made with margarita mix rather than following the actual recipe.

Tequila was largely rank stuff and good only for getting drunk right up into my young manhood in the 1980s. When I tell you that José Cuervo blanco was considered to be "good" quality tequila when I was a boy ... need I go further?

Under the hat, looks like a hair cut. Thanks for the history.
