While this recording of Terence McKenna given in 1991 and commenting on the date to 1971 or twenty years previous, I can only wonder if Terence McKenna were here to today what he would say about 2024 and 33 years later from 1991. I am a few years older than Terence McKenna and while I did not know him we shared a similar time and location in Berkeley in 1964 and a similar interest in psychedelics as a catalyst for novelty mind expansion. That some may use these talks as a sleep aid might surprise him as well as how stable the culture has remained defend it self from novelty. Global Climate Change has only increased as the world population in 1971 was 3.7 billion as compared to our current 2024 population that is now over 8 billion. Terence McKenna would be surprised I am sure to find the use of psychedelics being used legally for treatments from PTSD to death anxiety all while the current dilemma of modernity continues with its uncontrolled rapidity.

I am not abdicating any kind of role back or anything like that. I think we had to go much too far for that to happen. I am found to say that the only escape, it is called the forward escape. We cannot reject technology, we cannot pretend that we are 5 billion strong, but we can accept and explore the styles of that previous era, obviously the feminine, which give a much more balance and emphasis in that previous situation. Obviously the spirit was an accepted and recognized part of life. I like to think that the whole rise of Gaia comes and is related to the awareness that Nature is a kind of Minded World and the awareness and the ability to connect in that Minded World is what we lost when we descended into history. No estoy renunciando a ningún tipo de volver atrás por el estilo. Creo que tendríamos que ir demasiado lejos para que eso sucediera. Me gusta decir que el único escape se llama escape hacia adelante. No podemos rechazar la tecnología, no podemos pretender que no somos 5 mil millones de personas más fuertes, pero podemos aceptar y explorar los estilos de esa época anterior, obviamente en el femenino, que da mucho más equilibrio y énfasis en esa situación anterior. Obviamente el espíritu era una parte aceptada y reconocida de la vida. Me gusta pensar que todo el ascenso de Gaia viene y está relacionado con la conciencia de que la Naturaleza es una especie de Mundo Mental y la conciencia y la capacidad de conectarnos en ese Mundo Mental es lo que perdimos cuando descendimos a la historia.
