They should make a “lost season” for Boardwalk Empire. The time jump from season 4 to 5 was criminal. So much great events & story line’s completely ignored. Season 5 was so extremely rushed.

I can't stand that cliche' in cinema/tv... that all actions/storylines must be exposed and/or wrapped up in a cliche fashion with a bow. In the Sopranos, the melfi rape episode, everyone's been conditioned to the scenario that melfi has to tell Tony and the guy will be dealt with, but it was such a defining moment for Melfi when she ultimately decides not to tell Tony. Same thing with the Czech guy. The viewer has been conditioned to get a nice little bow on these scenarios, which isn't the same as burying a storyline. Those are storylines that ran their entire course. Furio decides to leave the country... Furio's defining moment.... push Tony into the jet propeller or get out of dodge... for whatever reason he holds himself back from killing Tony and wisely knows his only move is to go back to Italy.

It's old hat at this point, but the ending of the Sopranos was perfect.. It wasn't until 2013 when i first watched the Sopranos and have since seen it several times, but I thoroughly enjoyed the ending... I can't remember if I liked it right out of the gate or shortly thereafter we I pondered it.. but I've tried to come up with a different ending to the show and I can't come up with a better one... it would have come across a bit cheesy (too heavy handed) to have shown Tony getting shot and if you did show it, would you then end it?... it wouldn't have worked and if you didn't end it, it would be making Tony a sympathetic character as his family cries over his death. Let's celebrate the wonderful and heroic life of Tony Soprano. But it works out perfectly putting the viewer in Tony's POV as it happens (the audience is living vicariously through Tony, so it metaphorically kills the audience as well), which the camera work in that final restaurant scene would put the viewer in Tony's POV every time the bell on the entrance door rang, which happened to be the exact moment meadow walked in and early in the series Meadow essentially saves Tony;s life on two other occasions. On the college episode when the rat decides not to kill Tony when he see's him with his daughter and Meadows voice is what pulls Tony out of his Coma, but the third time was the charm for Tony to not be saved by meadow... the show beats the audience over the head in order to let the audience know Tony got whacked (it's not ambiguous when there's 101 clues letting the audience know what happens, which apparently still wasn't enough because there are people who still wonder what happened to Tony in the end)... a truly ambiguous ending is when the writer/director is ambiguous on the ending as well, which certainly wasn't the case.
