Beautifully done. There was a time when I did such things (not nearly as nice) as part of family Christmas tradition. Age and illness put a stop to it years ago. Thank you for the reminder of times gone. I wish you many years of enjoying this tradition and many years of happiness as a family. And most of all, I wish you a Merry Christmas.

You have a very beautiful Christmas Train and village layout! I appreciate the hard work and attention to detail you put into your display. I love the details of your display. I noticed you placed your gooseneck street lights out evenly! I have used the same street lights. You spaced out everything, the buildings, the people, trees etc in a orderly fashioned which prevents it from looking too busy and cluttered! I know that can be hard to accomplish when you have a large collection of Department56 Buildings and figurines because you can be tempted to display everything you can & try to squeeze it all in! Thanks for creating this great video of your beatiful village along with the music you choose to go along with it!

Hello, thank you for your kind remarks and taking the effort to write them. So glad you found enjoyment from seeing our display. you are correct in that when we have a large collection, it is so tempting to try and include them all. But with limited space, I believe if we can reject that thought it makes for a more interesting scene. My mother told me many times less is more. I can also say that I have never seen a Christmas display that has not inspired good feelings. All of them are beautiful in their own way. Thanks again and may all your Christmases be bright.

Wow exactly up my alley ! I’ve been trying for years to get a train for my Christmas tree never happened! Then I started collecting cottages etc , had them in my storage, someone stole ( I have ) them an idea who ! My cottages were repainted to look like real homes , stores , churches they all had lights in them , I started collecting trees , figures with lamp poles , just to get it stolen ! This is beautiful reminds me of my days when I was younger ( oops ) almost gave away my age ! This scene could just make my day , especially if I were feeling depressed! No words to describe! 😊

Thank you for your kind comment and I am very happy that you enjoyed it. The trains are called o scale or 1/48th scale. they are twice as large as ho scale trains. The engine and most of the cars were made by a company called MIke's train house or mth for short. Mth has downsized their business but they still make the Christmas themed engine. This years engine (2022) has Santa and his reindeer stamped on it with the words the night before Christmas over it. It sells for around $400.00. I believe they are going to make the Christmas themed cars again. I am sure they can be found on the internet. If interested in the engine just search for mth christmas engine for 2022. The car next to the caboose has an elf searching the radar for Santa's sleigh and is pretty old. It was made by Lionel trains. If this is something you would want to get involved with, the track I use is called tinplate o gauge track and is now hard to find. It is cheaper than the newer style track made by Lionel but not as nice. But you can find the tinplate track sold by a company called Menards. It is a big box store located out west. Take care.

Love your village!!!! 😁
@robertdiller5447 Жыл бұрын
Hi, I am responding to a comment by you that for some reason has gone away. Thanks again. your enjoyment of our display alone made it worth doing. The bare trees are made using old telephone wire. Do you know the saying that it is easy to carve a horse, just remove all the wood that does not look like a horse. ha ha. But it is sort of true making these trees. I take a bunch of wires and begin by twisting them into a trunk.Then I take the remaining wire and make individual branches until it looks like a tree. sometimes adding more wire to each branch using ca glue at the base of the branch. Especially if I want to make one branch into two or three. I always twist the branch closed till the end and then untwist it back a little so the ends have a little curl to them. I hope this makes sense. I then cover the trunk with phenoseal calk and paint it. The sidewalks are made of 1/4 in masonite. I followed two u-tube channels to make them. "Just for the fun of it" Making sidewalks for model trains. And "Jr's o scale trains" How to make o scale sidewalks. I just painted them a concrete color and used a pen to make the lines, instead of covering the masonite with drywall compound. The upper level of the display sits on a raised hearth. The hearth is covered in 1/2 inch pink insulation foam painted white. I built two sections of a hollow box using 1/4 inch plywood to extend the hearth to the wall. Then built another box to run along the other wall to make it L shaped. Both boxes are covered with 1/2 pink foam.At the end of the L shaped box, I installed the skiing run. I carved it out of pink foam using a hot foam cutter. The rock wall was a challenge for me. I started by stacking three sections of 1 inch foam and a section of 1/2 in foam to make a stack 3 and 1/2 inch high block. I then carved it to the circular shape I wanted. Then using a foam cutter I carved the rocks. I came close to giving up. The rocks were carved by using a foam cutter with a ridged needle on the end to cut the lines of the rocks into the foam. sort of like using a pencil. I then shaped each rock with a foam cutter that had a u shaped profile on the end. I hope this helps you. I have some pictures that would make it easier if I can figure out how to send them to you. If anyone reading this would want to see the trees and the sidewalk, search on u-tube teresa's train and village display. Take care I will gladly respond to any other questions that you mite have.

Hi Robert, so sorry I had inadvertently deleted the comment as I wanted to post it here on your channel instead of mine. So I'm glad you wrote back here on your channel. To recap on my comment, your village is so entertaining, every part of it, I even chuckle at the arrest scene 🤣. You have a story for each section, amazing!! I played your village back many times to sketch out your layout on drawing paper. Your bare branch trees are a masterpiece! (as well as the rest of your village), that crafting is beyond my level and I will have to stick with the Dept 56 bare branch trees (lol). I will try the sidewalks and the upper level. I will study those videos you recommended, thank you. I like the front of your train where you have the train station and gazebo, it's not overly populated so that it doesn't obstruct the view of the passing train at the ground level. It's amazing that each house has a different scene in the front yard and the little brown pathways you created are awesome. Every single detail is appreciated! It's the view/layout I want to accomplish bec since I have mine too set up on the floor (thank you for your comment), when I sit on the couch to look at it, I had created it where all is visible, very hard to do on a flat surface. How tall is your raised hearth and the one you built going to the wall? I will let you know if I have any questions, I'm not sure how you can send pics of your work in progress, would love to see them. I'm building a new water scene to leave out year round about 17.5 x 33 inches, I leave on my hutch. For the water, I used the toilet paper & glue method for the 1st time, it came out great, was surprised how it worked. 😁 The water scene is just comprised of 2 Lemax buildings, a lighthouse & Arthur's fish n chips. I will post to my channel once completed. I made some things out of popsicle sticks following youtube videos (a tiki bar with bar stools, and a picnic table) it's the tiny details that will make it come to life like your village. You are the meaning of inspiration! Thank you so very much!
@robertdiller5447 Жыл бұрын
@@minivillages Hello again , the hearth is 10 inches tall. The lower section of the display sits on a 1inch section of pink foam from home depot. So the boxes would be 9 inches tall. Then I laid a 1inch section of foam on top. If you ever use the foam on the bottom of your display, remember to have a thin section of plywood to kneel on so as not to crush the foam. I doubt that making the trees is beyond your skill level, it really just takes patience and desire. But the dept 56 are very nice and I would not hesitate to use them. I am really thinking of purchasing some myself. As a child, it was wonderful to wake up and discover a surprise snowfall. Especially when the snow clung to all the branches. That was my inspiration to make them. Now because of a very long driveway and a bad back, I much prefer viewing them on our display lol. What a great idea for a year round water scene display. I am looking forward to viewing it on your channel. Thanks for explaining what happened to the missing comments. I only saw it when I went back to enjoy your display. your comments were very kind Thanks again. I have always wanted to create a water or beach scene. I knew about the toilet paper method and now, because of you , I will try it. Take care.

It's about time someone took the care to create a display where the people, cars, and buildings are all to the same scale. most displays are cluttered and have no rhyme or reason with all different size miniatures with most being too large. This display tells a story or many small stories with the vehicles and clothing style of the characters all being time specific. Great look back to classic Americana Christmas, maybe even a little Norman Rockwell to it...Very Nice Teresa

I copy the previous comment about setting up elaborate displays when the kids were young, but then they grew up, married, and had their own families with their own decorations and displays. This one that we are seeing is spectacular, to say the least. I wonder if Starbucks was around then, according to the time period that is represented? Just wondered. God bless.
@robertdiller54479 ай бұрын
Yes, you are correct in thinking that Starbucks was not around during that time period. We hesitated to use it because we wanted to represent the 1950's. But we liked the way it looked and caved in. Starbucks started on March 30, 1971 at the Pike Place Market in Seattle Washington. Thanks so much for taking the time to comment. We appreciate your kind remarks. Take care.

Hi, really nice to hear from you again. Creating these displays is a labor of love for all of us that do this. Ultimately, we hope it brings some joy to anyone who might view our display. Without that all that work is for nothing. So again I would like to thank you for taking the time to let me know that you enjoy our efforts . Very happy to know that we inspired you to create a holiday display .I hope you have many years of happiness while doing this. Really looking forward to seeing it this November. By the way, I was at MIchaels yesterday and noticed A vw bus made by lemax. It has presents on top with a christmas saying on the side. I did not purchase it as I model in the 1950,s. Also I think it might be a little out of scale. But you might be interested. The price was $19.95 with 25% off. Take care, always nice to hear from you.
@minivillages Жыл бұрын
I watch your video often, totally impressed by the realism it depicts. I checked out the VW, & agree its not the same scale I'm using... I do like the 1950's models as well. I have collected a mixture of vehicles, all metal. The two way traffic sure does take up a lot of room 😂, but I will just forgo a few buildings to make them fit. I made a ski slope & some mountains to go in the back of the village, I have planned out the measurements for each section. Last time it took me 10 straight days almost around the clock...hopefully this time it may be easier, since the pieces of the puzzle all fit together better. Always nice to hear from you too. Take care.

The vehicles were collected over many years from attending train shows. Most of them are from a company called Brooklin. They have a website and you can find them on Ebay. The ones I have are not new. They go for around $50.00 a piece. I enhanced them with a product called bare metal foil. So if you found them on ebay they might look a little different. If you search 1/43 scale vehicles many more kinds will show up. The new Brooklins are much more expensive.

I have not spent a lot of time there but love going when I can. A very Merry Christmas to you and your family. Keep up the good work. Glad of any influence I had on you. God Bless.

Ocean Grove, NJ is my vacation spot every July since I finally discovered the place a few yrs back. Tiny spot on the map, who knew such an amazing town existed. The atmosphere, ocean, beach, is so magnificent. And I try to go to every fair. And walk the boardwalk to Asbury when I can & a trip to Days ice cream. Its like a story book weekend to me when I do visit. I hope to get out of Bklyn, NY one day... Anyway, I am happy to have added the cars to my display, the die cast cars are the best, don't know what Dept 56 & Lemax were thinking when they created cars without translucent windows & doors that don't open. 😂. I like implementing the streets & sidewalks bec then the village items have a spot to live in vs being all over the place I enjoyed watching your video all year. Merry Christmas to you and your family and God bless.

I probably won’t be getting either unless I come in a sum of money I already have the red polar berk on preorder the Halloween F-19, 5 Polar Express cars, 10 MTH North Pole passenger cars (three of which being the super dome) and I need a new car so we’ll have to see honestly but definitely leaning vision if it’s actually priced similar to the berks we’ll see if they make a set I’ll probably do that if it’s available
