Well, have you ever stop to think maybe it is because of his religion that God has kept him relevant all these years. Who reverted to Islam and was frowned upon only to come back on top. I bet Cat/Yusuf gets tired of people asking him why he converted (from Christianity) and having to defend that most personal of decisions. If you read the story, at the time he made the decision he was drowning in the ocean (caught in a riptide, maybe?), all alone, and with not much chance of making it safely to shore. He made a promise to God that if he was spared he would make a change in his life. Sure enough, he was miraculously able to make it to shore (IIRC, a piece of driftwood floated within reach right at that moment, or some such?). So, he kept his word. 😄

That was a beautiful song from a beautiful person. I saw him in Philadelphia Dec 4, 2014. It was the best concert ever. He still sounds great. As for the Rushdie comment; I believe it was taken out of context. The British show was baiting him. At any rate who hasn't said stupid things 30 years ago that they regret? Give the poor guy a break. He has done so many good things for people. He has many charities, like orphanages etc that he gave most of his money to.
