It is not neccesseary related to real world hardware and hacks. He may just taged the event as such out of just referencing it somehow. Just like Curvby might not aware of a real world that spawned both him and the notion of Jesus, he simply either by try and error or by coincidence learned how to summon and use these effects. Terminal montage's world can have such effects imprinted in it and if he chose some characters to have a fate where they learn how to use them then there you go. In lore naming things can always refered to being a coincidence of being the same thing in the real world. You might think that creative freedom can come up with a lot of things, but you will soon find out that it is extreamly hard to nail a trully unique setup without saturating the content with lots of already well known references in the real world. For example you could call Luigies book "apaliegos" in example in lore. However for most of the viewers everyone just going to assume thats the bible and would discard that name most of the time. However if it would be a continous apearance in the series and the name itself would have some origin story to it to justify it's unique name then slowly but surelly you could introduce a brand new item to the lore that is well accepted and opens up many more story possibilities anchoring from that point on. Knowing how to introduce features to youre world's lore is a delicate process. This was a big drop that was way out of the lore with no in world backstory why it is refered to it like that so it is a good feedback that you pointed this one out.

I hypothesize that at least one Samus will be possessed by the Speed Demon -- I remember hearing somewhere that there are 4 other Speed Demon hosts in total. Guile (from Street Fighter) is one of them, and Bird Up might be another (not sure about that one). I'm excited to see who the others will be!
