The actor had actually survived having a collapsed lung which is why his performance is so realistic. From an interview: "The reason that moment happened is, he got shot, and at first [James Cameron and I] couldn't find any real way to bring importance to his death," Morton said. "I told James I had been in a [car] accident a few years before where my lung collapsed, and showed him what the result of that was, and once I showed him that, that's what he decided to put in the movie, and it really did work. It was pretty special."

Agree for the most part, with the exception of one bit of the soundtrack, the off kilter strange time signature rendition of the Terminator theme in the first movie is genuinely unsettling to the human ear, the cleaned up orchestral version used from this movie on (whilst quite beautiful in it's own right) really doesn't compare to the almost alien quality of the clanking cacophony from T1 which really just lets you know you are in for something strange and different. Eddy Furlong dirt biking while blasting Guns N Roses kind of makes up for it though lol

Kudos to the great helicopter stunt pilot Chuck Tamburro, who agreed to do the low bridge underpass TWICE (For the second one, the camera crew refused to film it, as some others pointed out, so Cameron did it himself with a stationary camera at the back of a van) in addition to all the sequences. Cameron was so happy he gave him a small cameo on the film (he's that guy bailing out of the chopper after the iconic "GET OUT". And funny enough after bailing out you can see it's his body shape flying away from the scene lol) . Any and every major action film where there's a chopper, he's the man flying it. Scarface, Predator, Die Hard, that's him.

Her Sister was the one dressed as a Waitress still with little John in the Nightmare sequence, and again when she was operating on Arnold’s head to get the chip out. There wasn’t actually a Mirror. Cameron's original pick to play the T-1000 was rock musician Billy Idol, and storyboards had the android resembling him. Epic scifi action movie. The only CG used is during the T1000 transitions. The static T1000 states are makeup or puppets, and even some of the shots of him in his chrome state were makeup. Arnold being shot up in the corridor was an animatronic cut with him in more and more advanced stages of makeup. The building is real. They built a false third floor to make it taller, then blew it up. The helicopter was really flown under the overpass, and a real prop copter crashed into the back of the truck. One of my favorite effects is the time bubble transporting whatever it envelops into the future, leaving those objects with a spherical missing section, also practical. James Cameron was the master of practical effects and now he's on the cutting edge of digital effects.

You'll note that the ships are very similar in design to the Drop Ships in Aliens. And, if you didn't know this already, in Titanic, when "Jack" (Leo DiCaprio) is drawing "Rose" (Kate Winslett), the hands actually doing the drawing are James Cameron's, and in fact all of "Jack's" drawings in his book of drawings are actually Cameron's.

I saw this movie 3x when it was released, and that is from a guy who normally doesn't like going to the movies once, as I find most films subpar 90% of the time. That being said, I'm sure it has come up, and most are divided, but I more than feel part 3 is worth a watch. While not as acclaimed as the first two films, I feel it was done well for the "cash grab" that it was, and I feel it adds decent backstory to John's character. And the ending is easily my favorite of all 3 original films and is well worth the watch for that alone.

The T-1000 is such an advanced model, that even Skynet would not mass-produce it. It was self-aware from the beginning of its activation - it could learn, develop emotions and personality all on its own, even turn on Skynet if it came to the conclusion it didn't like what Skynet was trying to do. Its why even Skynet feared it. In the case of this T-1000, however, Skynet was lucky...The T-1000 quickly developed a sadistic personality and enjoyed killing and hunting down its prey. This can be seen when he kills the guard at the hospital, cocking his head sideways in a way of morbid curiosity at the dying human. Or that moment after killing Todd, where is seemingly lost in thought for a few moments, just staring at his hand. He also stabbed down through the elevator roof, instead of cutting the cables, which would've been a much more logical method (he woul've easily survived that drop - his target wouldn't). So it looks like he was enjoying the cat-and-mouse-game to a degree.

22:16 "That minigun must weigh so much." Nearly 100 pounds if I had to guess. I got to lift an empty one (no ammo) back when I was a young healthy karate instructor. I could lift it with some effort (Arnold of course makes it look weightless), but add the crazy heavy belt of ammo and expect me to hold it and aim it? No chance. These guns are meant to be mounted on helicopters or small planes, and there are some mounts for ground vehicles like army Hummers. They do make them with handholds and a trigger so it's possible to use one like you see in this movie, but you better be comfortable holding well over a hundred pounds AND strong enough to still aim it. The good news is that it has no kick, so at least it won't knock you on your butt.

If you were a kid in the 70s and 80s, that threat of nuclear war and all the imagery was something we did drills on in school every year. Hiding under your desk, and annual single file lines to the boiler room and the bomb shelter beneath it. We were all convinced that at any moment.....poof, humanity gone.

That dream sequence had to be done in one take. James Cameron wasn’t allowed to have more than one nuke, so they just had to work with what they had. 😉

They really flew that helicoptor under the freeway. The story is, the stunt pilot insisted he could do it but the camera crew refused to film it. They believed they'd be filming a death. Can't say I blame them - wouldn't want to be known as the camera crew for Twilight Zone: The Movie 2.0 (look up that crazy story). So Cameron manned the camera and stunt went off without a hitch.

40:34 So the T-100- has melted away, the arm from the first film is melting as I type this and the chip from the first film has been destroyed. Now the T-800 is being lowered into the steel to also be destroyed...but they neglected to retrieve the arm that got caught up in the huge gear.

Robert Patrick as T-1000 has to my eye a good running technique, contained and controlled. Whether he had it already or was coached, I don't know. Good call on the mercury. The re-integration of T-1000 after shattering was done with the simplest trick in the book, mercury and some sort of blower, perhaps a hair dryer on cold (and hopefully adequate PPE).

something that always puzzled me... when Miles says "I don't know how much longer I can hold this...", the time it would have taken to get outside/out of the blast radius successfully vs the time it would have taken just to reach over and grab the thing out of his hand are not the same. They chose to try to run/leave the building vs trying to grab the thing that looks less than 5 feet away? I mean if he's gonna drop it very soon anyway, you might as well just try to grab it if you're already right there. It wasn't on a timer, was it?

For Schwarzenegger movies, Terminator 1 & 2 are his best films. For more classic Arnold, there's "Predator", "Conan the Barbarian" and "Commando". I'd also recommend "Total Recall", "True Lies" and "Kindergarten Cop".

@torikazuki8701

One great thing in this film about how Sarah fights is that she fights in a MUCH more realistic manner than most films, especially today. Today you'll have a (non superpowered) Woman toss around guys twice her size and go toe-to-toe. But the overwhelming majority of Women can't do that. (Watch real matches if you want to see.) Instead, Sarah fights SMART, using her speed and agility and going for trips, falls,, distractions and tries to use the environment to her best advantage. In a film with so many special effects, it really adds to the versimilitude.

The broken pieces of frozen metal turning liquid again looks a bit like gallium. It melts slightly above room temperature and I think it looks like that when you break it. How they made the puddles move I am not sure. Both gallium and mercury are not attracted by magnets.
