Filming at night with contrast rich film and spraying down the streets with water to get the most of the blue lights and some smoke here and there does help make things look much cooler. I am pretty sure you can get a very similar look today at those locations using similar gear and filming schedule.

I just want you to know that you have made a 90's kid born in the mid 80's very emotional and happy with this video. The Terminator and T2 are still my favorite movies, more than 30 years later since I've seen them for the first time. Since then I must have seen each of them, well over 300 times. I will one day visit LA to see many of these locations myself, so thank you for putting the exact addresses in the video. Out of all things, I really want to sit where Arnold sat at the beginning, to see that beautiful LA view at night! Thanks again for this gem of a video!

Two other locations that I discovered which were used for filming was 6000 S Boyle Ave, Vernon, CA and the Panama Hotel 403 E 5th St, Los Angeles, CA. The area in Vernon was used for the Police Station massacre sequence. The Panama Hotel on the other hand was used for the graphic scenes where the Terminator does the self repair scenes where he removed the damaged eyeball and repaired his ruptured arm.

The interior of the "robotics factory" was actually the old "Kerns" canning company that was located over here in the City of Industry 13010 E. Temple Ave. Since then it's been several other incarnations. The machinery seen in the film is obviously canning equipment, metal & steel presses.

The two trees from the Sarah scooter scene were the same with a little more age to them. And the Spartan Burger was really cool. The Terminator is one of my favorite films. I like how the first film had alot of horror elements to it and the fact it was a suspenseful mystery half way through the film before it turns into a complete action flick. It's also cool that most of the movie takes place at night. Sure some of the special effects are dated but the fact that this movie was made on such a shoe string budget it's actually very impressive. Stan Winston did a amazing job with the T-800 and you really believe there's a metallic endosekelenton underneath Arnold Schwarzenegger's skin. Casting Schwarzenegger as the Terminator was a stroke of genius because in the original concept James Cameron saw the Terminator as a chameleon who could blend into a crowd unnoticed. Lance Henriksen was originally going to play the part but when James Cameron met Arnold he realised his mistake and gave it to Schwarzenegger instead. Arnold Schwarzenegger sure can't hide into a crowd very well but it doesn't matter much. He brought this idea of an unstoppable killing machine just by being such a large muscular man.

Great video of my favorite Terminator movie. I still remember when I first saw the movie. I was at my uncle’s cottage in Northern Ontario Canada and he only had a small tv and a vcr for entertainment. So, when me and my family went into town for groceries, we saw that they had VCR movies for rent at the hardware store, so that was the movie I picked and my sister picked “The Wild Life”. That afternoon, we watched movies, and I watched the “Terminator” twice. I loved that movie, and as a 13 year old boy in 1984, I liked Bess Motta from “The 20-Minute Workout” ,who played Sarah Connor’s friend and roommate that got killed.

Brilliant vid. I've watched the film so many times, really amazing to see all these locations and how some of them have barely changed. Anyone else notice the similarity (in this vid) between gun shop address number - 14329 - and the number on the first Sarah Connor's building - 14239? That's got to be some kind of wild coincidence.

Fun fact: The code that appears onscreen at 10:37 is assembly language from a 6502 CPU. I'd lay odds it's from an Apple II program, based on the start address of $4000 (decimal 16384) which was a common location for machine language routines. Probably some sort of disk utility, because of its reference to the VTOC (Volume Table of Contents). _Swats at big neon sign over head_ Shoo! Go away! Sorry... my "NERD" sign was showing. I think I've chased it off for now. 🤣 Also, I think I sort of dated myself, didn't I? I'm 51. I grew up in the C64 / Apple II / Atari 800 era (and taught myself how to program them all).
@waltherstolzing9719
@waltherstolzing9719 2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, precisely. Someone made a video about this too, tracking down the code to a program listing in a contemporary Apple II magazine: kzbin.info/www/bejne/j4PRn52lnriJY7c
@wardoc2004
@wardoc2004 2 жыл бұрын
Actually, $4000, on an Apple II, is hi-res page 2 and $2000 (8192) is hi-res page 1. Many programmers, to simulate motion or movement would draw on one page and display said page while drawing the next picture on the other page then flip back and forth between them. Applesoft Basic was loaded into memory areas $D000 (53248) - F7FF (63487) (unless you also loaded up Integer Basic. All the DOS 3.x routines are at $9600 (38400) - $BFFF (49151). Applesoft Basic programs start at $0800 (2048). The free areas for user programs are $0300 (768) - $03FF (1023) and $0800 (2048) - $1FFF (8191). Most machine language routines occurred from $C000 (49152) and beyond. Woz was a master of doing more with less.
@wardoc2004
@wardoc2004 2 жыл бұрын
Another interesting thing relates to Integer Basic was that values were limited from -32767 to 32767. Therefore, if you had a POKE or PEEK statement to an area above these values, you had to subtract said memory location from 65536. For example, the location for reading a single keystroke is $C000 (49152). Since 49152 is too big, you subtract it from 65536 you get -16384. Therefore, both POKE 49152 and POKE -16384 are valid in Applesoft Basic but only POKE -16384 is valid in Integer Basic.
