Great review Luke. For me, from the moment I played this at UKGE I knew it was a hit for me, now I’ve had it a few months and have played it half a dozen times at two player and solo, I love it and its currently no.2 on my top 10 new to me of 2024. Great components, lovely art work and a thinly Heavy Euro thats easy to pick up and learn.

You enjoy it 1-2 player? 2 player you would barely see each other on the map sometimes and Solo........well as per vid! :P

Incredible review Mr. Hector. The video clips made me laugh 😂 just got this game myself. Thanks for covering the negative points of games, it actually helps me enjoy these games MORE weirdly enough. My default is to put new games on a pedestal, to go into them with way too high expectations that no system can attain. Your style encourages a more balanced view, and snaps me out of my frankly strange board game dream world. So when a game does “fall off the pedestal” the descent is much less dramatic. A realistic view of the game can help us appreciate the good with the bad instead of discarding the whole because it fails to reach perfection.

Thank you so much! It's what I try to do - hype is a dangerous thing in board games and many people will lock themselves into "everything new is brilliant" - creators don't help in this regard with constant review after review with final verdicts of 7.5-10 with never a lower number.

Glad to hear you say more positive than bad. I backed the game knowing it would be one of my heaviest and tight games I own. Hopefully the community creates a better solo variant soon.

I backed this game and love the thought process you need for this game. But I am more of a heavy euro gamer. I do agree that there will be a time or two when you realize you messed up, and it does hurt. The ability of the markets to restock by a faster player makes the turn decision of how fast or slow you go more meaningful. I just wish the hidden agenda's were a bit more impactful. Collecting the demand tolkens are a must for big points. But overall I love the game.
@TheBrokenMeeple2 ай бұрын
Demand tokens are just too easily stolen though so you can't plan for them, it just seems like a happy accident. Hidden agenda's yes they are a bit of a waste of space.

Ooh, heavy euro that's relatively rules light and has meaningful player interaction. I'm interested!

Sounds like one *I* can miss. I felt the same way about Windmill Valley after four games - confusing icons on some cards and bonus tiles, some cards (esp scoring ones) were clearly better than others, and overall I thought that the game would have benefitted from some top tier development.

Just played this: It's true, the game is nightmarishly tight and will screw you if you ever do anything wrong! Yikes, that is not a good feeling and it's not fun! Also, there is one of the player upgrades you can get from the blue section that is broken as hell and needs to be nerfed: The one that allows players to move a meeple from one development to another once per turn with no other restrictions. Very game-breaking ability.
@TheBrokenMeepleАй бұрын
Yes, I agree, my mate used that in his first game, it's too powerful.

We got this to the table the other night, unfortunately, it just absolutely melted our brains and we packed it away again after a couple of turns.
@TheBrokenMeeple2 ай бұрын
From rules learning or just the mathyness of trying to plan ahead?
@The_Illumi_Nation2 ай бұрын
@TheBrokenMeeple A bit of both, the rules took a long time to try and get our heads around, and then from the off it felt like immediately one person was as such a disadvantage.

Thanks for the review Luke, a very honest one. As you said if this takes so long I better play other better games. A pass for me

The whole Hub/stop/station thing confused me quite a bit. Isn’t a hub also a stop but a stop is not a hub? I’ll have to revisit this….
@TheBrokenMeeple2 ай бұрын
It's more that a hub scores more than a single stop does. A hub is basically two station discs on top of each other.
@s.d.d.60632 ай бұрын
both hubs and stations are stops, but hubs are stations with another disk over it built with your build action if you have hubs unlocked. Hubs score more points than stations and are required for projects and agendas. You can at any time upgrade a station to a hub when you build providing you have unlocked hubs

I really don't like these types of games where you arr restricted and always fall shy of being able to do what you need to do by a couple of resources... if I ever wanted to play a restricting game of contrition like that, I would just turn to Great Western trail Argentina
@TheBrokenMeepleАй бұрын
Still haven't tried Argentina.
@andymcguire237Ай бұрын
Yeah, this game requires a bunch of calculations since there is no real backpedalling. I made 1 miscalculation about what resources I needed and 2/3 of the last round was pointless to me. Not fun.
@KojimalosophyАй бұрын
@@TheBrokenMeeple I tried it twice back to back, having fully understood the rules, and everybody at the table was always just stressed out because we had to acquiesce and do some other thing instead rarher than what we wanted to do, due to a resource that we were missing, and the game is very linear, all the time you find yourself saying "oh damn, well I cannot go there cuz he is there, I could go there but that doesn't do me any good, I guess I'll go here and produce this resource, and I'll figure out what to use it for later" it truly goes over my head why that game is so popular.... and this is coming from someone who absolutely loves KanBan EV, Lisboa, Obsession, Lost Ruins of Arnak, Dune Imperium, I am okay with a restricting game as long as I have different avenues to pivot and accomplish what I need to do rather than being locked in to the same path, so linear!

@@TheBrokenMeeple my copy hasn’t been here yet. Got 4 games on tts, the experience is unique. The impressive part to me is, everything happened during the game, it flashback like a good story. Not to mention I have never won a game yet 😂
