I purchased the Tern Vektron JP model, specifically compliant with Japan regulations that I use for urban transport in central Tokyo. Biggest difference is 300 w battery. Despite the disappointing battery capacity (due to regulation), the bike is awesome as an urban cruiser and I never have range issues. I added a front basket to the configuration and am able to carry all my items with no problem. As an urban cruiser this is the bike to get. Easy to ride, fast, comparatively light, and superb build quality. The bike is solid and performs with precision. Very tight and feels very high quality. My personal view is for urban use, Tern’s folding ebike line up is a great choice. I also own an 2017 Addmotor Motan, and 2018 Turbo Levo eMTB. As I have posted previously the build quality of the Motan is poor and I would not recommend to a serious ebiker. This is my “steal me” bike for coffee shops etc. Never trail! The Turbo Levo is an amazing eMTB, off the charts pleasure on trails but $$$. Now I’m salivating over the Haibike Flyon and waiting for the EBR review and suggest deep dive on the TQ motor. Again $$$$ 🤣. Ugh.

If you put a dark cover over the q9 you could bring it in a no bicycle building disguised as a travel bag on to the elevator. This bike is awesome.

Terns are great, i was looking into them before i bought my Brompton , they feel solid and more like a normal bike than a folding bike , i remember the standard versions none electric starts from 400 USD to 1k. i think 3.2k for electrified version is a bit over priced . in general the motor and the battery shouldn't add more than 1k to 1.5k depending on capacity. Great bikes.

They have Bafang electrified bikes for $1999 and $2199, but the Borsch models are expensive. And even their low-end bikes are expensive compared to Rad Power and Sondors bikes.

It’s actually quite reasonably priced if you buy an ebike instead of a car or a motorcycle. Sure, you could buy a cheaper ebike to replace a car, but if you want the decision to be easy from the standpoint of convenience, speed, and comfort, it might be worth spending more on a premium ebike like this.

Help Needed for decision . I cannot decide between my two options : This bike the Tern S 10 2019 an the Gocycle GX , both here inj Germany nearly the same price with the same Equipment . Pro Tern: Bosch Active Line Middle-Motor, Higher Battery Capacity , Cargo Rack (not very important for me) - Pro Gocycle : much lesser weight , modern optic and very nicely cleaned up, but most equipment not out of the shelf . i.E. Motor from own production . Not sure about spare parts in future. It would be nice to get some thoughts from you, Greetings from Hamburg , Germany

@daytriker4 жыл бұрын
Just for your consideration, these commercially made E Bikes are not only expensive but the specs on what you get for your money are not that good. This is not only true for Terns which I think make great folding bikes but 250 watts for the Gocycle or 400 amp/hr. battery for the Bosch & 50nm of torque for $3200? Plus if you ever need service or parts you are tied into proprietary parts & service from the dealer. In my opinion buy yourself the bike you really want & add in your own conversion kit with your own choice of battery. You'll get 80 nm of torque, 500 watts power (typical) plus a battery size of about 15 amp.hrs. and you'll come in priced around $2500. As a bonus parts & service are easy enough for D.I.Y.
@Alanicus14 жыл бұрын
It’s a case of horses for courses but I’d say for the same price the GoCycle GX would be Berte for its intended purposes, i.e a commuter/city bike. The modern clean design with all the working parts nicely hidden away, combined with a much lower weight are very compelling. The Tern would probably be better in other scenarios say touring and shopping. If money were no object why not buy both?
