It does take time for the furnace to heat up before it's hot enough to melt, I time it by dropping two extra charcoal on top, then when the charcoal bar drops below the iron in the UI drop another one or two on the top then I can start pumping the bellows.

The first time I built a blast furnace it was an absolute eye-sore. Since then I make sure the forge, crucible and blast furnace are below ground level and that only the 'chimney' sticks out so you can at least get rid of the 'floating' sensation. Another trick is to bury it inside a hillside, so the front is exposed but you can use the slope to drop it in, rl style-ish. (look up lime kilns, they give you an idea). You have plenty of rivers near you, surely there is a steep enough incline near one of them to make it work should you wish it.

I really love this series, I did my own mudpack with tfc and a lot of it's addons to make it even more realistic and a couple of other mods like Buildcraft and Immersive Engineering to make the digging easier in the end game. Anyone who wants a custom modpack just reply on this comment with a mod list, an email and a feel for the pack and I will try to make it. Sorry for the self promotion, if your not with it Mr. E you tell me and I delete this comment immediately.

I've tried playing with other mods mixed in with TFC but I always felt like they took away from the TFC experience. As much as I complain about all the grindy bits of TFC, I appreciate how rewarding they make accomplishing something feel. I don't mind this comment staying up or that you want to help people, but for the future, please don't do this on other peoples' videos.

You are still swimming in graphite and kaolinite no? Make a crucible or three, melt down all the gold and store the crucibles away. Mind you, no idea what the unit capacity on those things is so barrels might be more efficient.
