This was so helpful! My wife & I read the rules together & played our 1st game this week, but it just felt off based on our previous experience with the original TM game. We had to come and match this very late last night because we played it for the first time, and started at 9:30 pm because it said it would take an hour, and we finished 3.5 hours later convinced we’d played it wrong, and very tired. So we watched this at nearly 2am to find out we had played right, and must just be very very slow.. thank you for all your videos!
@WatchItPlayed4 ай бұрын
I think it's fair to expect your first game to be much slower (as you figure things out, etc), but also, the box might not be taking into account how many players you had (2 players is much faster than 4, for example). And finally... those estimates are almost always wrong anyway :) They usually say things are much faster than they actually are. But yes, you could also have a slow group, or some slower players :)

Hi, Rodney! Quick question. Isnt't there a mistake at 12:33? You say the production gets increased, but if I read correctly, it seems you only get 1MC and 2 plants, not the whole production increase.
@WatchItPlayed3 жыл бұрын
Nope, this works the way it is shown in the video. Those effect increase your production of those tracks by the amount shown. Hope that helps!
@kylesmorgabord55923 жыл бұрын
I see where you got confused Gustavo, with the wording right? “This produces” is keeping with the theme of companies investing in projects. So if you “invest” in a project (buy a card) that produces MC/heat/plants, you keep track of your ongoing total production with the production track.

Great Vid as Always, but in Minute 12:53 you explain that your cards raise your mc and plant production. Are you sure? For me the card Text means while production Phase gain 1mc and 2 plants not raise your production. Or am i wrong? Thanks and greetings from Germany
@WatchItPlayed3 жыл бұрын
Hey Peter, you are wrong on that, but I understand what you are saying. It would have been more accurate for them to write "raise your production in these areas by 1", but instead they are describing "what" these symbols mean (they are letting you know that BECAUSE these raise your production by 1, it means you'll get 1 more of each during each production).

Thank you, but I have a specific question regarding where to put the cubes on my playing card... You said that the section on the left is your production capability and the bigger space on the right is for what you actually have. However I guess I need an explanation of the terms on the card. I'm looking at the Space Heaters green project card for the example. It says in the ability section "during the production phase this produces two heats". In this case do I add two heats to the big square on the right or do I increase my production rate to 2 on the left side? Would love an example of each scenario! Thank you!
@WatchItPlayed11 ай бұрын
It's a bit tricky to explain the specifics of cards, since I don't have the game in front of me, but I can refer to the video to help. If you go to here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/hJPVnJmrlMeJeK8feature=shared&t=732 this shows an example explains that benefits with diagonal lines behind them specifically adjust your production tracks. If there are other cards on screen you want to ask about, provide a time stamp and I'll see if I can help.

Great video, Rodney - as always. Question re: Event cards in Ares Expedition. Some cards specify to, say, raise the temperature two steps; while others, indicate to raise your TR one step and flip an ocean tile. In the second case, since flipping an ocean tile would normally raise your TR one step, are you raising your TR two steps with that card? In short, if an event card specifies actions which would "normally" raise your TR but doesn't specify doing that, what do you do? (As examples, Ice Cap Melting says "flip an ocean tile" - when you do that, I'm assuming you also raise your TR 1 step. Comet would end up raising your TR two steps since you raise temp one step and flip an ocean tile. But what about Nitrogen-Rich Asteroid. It specifies to raise your TR two steps but also to raise the temp one step - would that then prompt one more TR step up for a total of 3 on that card?)

12:12 Thanks for that, cause it was not clear in the rulebook and I messed up my first game. Watch out in the rulebook about the Development Phase. It doesn't mention at all that you get to move the markers right away. In the example with Bob on page 13, they don't mention that he also gets to move his marker for Heat by 3. They don't mention it except that you get the Lightning icon. But if you go further into the book page 15, suddenly they mention that Bob had already moved those markers on his player board when he played those cards. There’s some things I just can’t figure out with this game and don’t understand. On our player sheet we increase our sliders by the amount that is given on a project card when it is played, so if a project card gives 4 MC in the stripe box, I move my cube 4 slots forward on the MC track correct? What’s confusing me is that same card says “gain 4 MC during the production phase.” So does this mean I get 4 from the track and another 4 for being in the production phase? Or do I only advance 4 MC slots every production phase? I also don’t understand when we even advance our tracks. It’s from the striped box correct?

The text is explaining what the symbol means. It's basically repeating what the symbols are telling you (in other words it's saying "because you just moved your slider up 4 spaces on the MC track, you're now going to gain 4 MC during each of your Production phases". Know what I mean?

thank you for making this video, but i have a question, should I subscribe even though I won't watch any videos unless I need help with a different board game? I hear that it's bad to have an absurdly disproportional viewer count to you subscriber count.

Nah, it doesn't hurt the videos at all, as far as I know. Happy to have you subscribe, even if you're only here to watch a few of the videos. Cheers.

Thank you for the great video as always. Can you play this full game with only 2 players, or do you have to play the Co-Op mode?
@WatchItPlayed3 жыл бұрын
You can play this competitively as 2 players as well!

I love the rftg-style phase selection and more forgiving card economy, but I do wish there was a little more depth to the central terraforming board. I'll have to give it a play sometime and see what it's like.

@@WatchItPlayed Thanks Rodney! I've gotten to try it now, and while I do have some complaints, it's definitely a solid game! (Good enough for me to play 3 times in a row, at least!)

Thanks for the great video! It definitely helped clear up a few things. My only other question is, during the Research phase, in what order do players draw cards? Since all players draw, the order the cards are drawn would matter. Does the player who played the Research card draw first and then proceed clockwise? Who would draw first if more than one player chooses the Research phase? Thanks for your help!
@WatchItPlayed3 жыл бұрын
Hi Wendy, since the deck is shuffled, it doesn't really matter what order the cards are drawn in (You know what I mean? You're meant to get a random card, not a specific card). However, if you're more comfortable with the idea that "the card 3rd down should be my card, since we should be following some kind of turn order", then just have the players draw in some order that you decide at the start of the game - but in terms of the rules of the game, it doesn't matter.

The setup describes splitting the draw decks so that one is in range of all player. What we do is just shuffle, divide into roughly equal decks, and put near each person so each has their "own" draw pile.
