I've never seen both players holding on to so many cards and credits until Gen 6. I normally spend all my money early to get production going as fast as possible. is that my mistake?

It completely depends on your gameplan. In this game, I got 17 MC prod in gen 1, card draw with AI Central, global discounts with AGT and Jovian Multipliers later down the line. This means, I get a lot of extra cards and I'm still so rich that I can buy and keep every possible card I see. In a rush, you keep way less cards of course. Money is tight and you try to end as fast as possible, so buying cards for 3MC that you're not sure you even need is a bad idea!

There was a bug in the game for a while that prevented you from closing the chat once you've opened it, but that has been fixed!
