Did buy the unit during the Black Friday week. Did not have to download any software. If you can detect the address of the NAS on your network when you turn it on, then you can enter the address in your browser and follow the installation process. This was important for me since I have a Chromebox and the software mentioned in the video is actually either for a Mac or a Windows machine.

Good review - thanks. I have an F2-NAS it is very slow and not worth using, it looks like the design has not changed re the fan housing.

How would this behave if I want to add a 2nd HDD later down the road? I don't want to run it in raid. Would it ask me to format the 1st drive again?

Thanks for your great review. Did you try to setup a personal cloud on it. Was it easy to do that? I have a need to seed large files for clients so they can download them selves without using cloud services like Dropbox etc. Thank you again.

Congrats, a very nice clean and to the point review. I like your moto. Can you please tell me if this NAS has some kind of download manager, so I can put for example to download some stuff and then view it via local network or via web? How does it work with 4K movies stored on the NAS, can it transcode to other lower devices like phones, tablets, laptops?

Pretty sure "single disk" opts out of any RAID and utilizes drives as single disks.

Can you do a build your own NAS using a Raspberry Pi 4 B? You can buy an enclosure that takes the Pi and the SATA drives.
@dresdonmccool7094 жыл бұрын
Yes you can and there cases to house it Can also use spare pc parts and use software such as freeNAS and unRAID Personally have a core i3 mini ITX system with 4gb and 5 drives of different sizes being used with unRAID System has been online for approx 4yrs and only issue was a HDD failed, replaced with no data loss

Can I use one 2TB HDD and one 4HDD in the 2 bays at the same time? How many devices (phones, tablets, laptops and desktops) can be connected to this NAS? How many accounts/personal folders can be created for this NAS? Thank you very much for your response. (Your accent makes me miss my OZ friends, mate)

I'm really interested in getting a NAS but I'm confused by their operation. If I have a NAS setup and hook a laptop to it for instance can I just go into my file manager on my windows PC find a file on the NAS and start working with it right off the NAS. Or is it more of an archive type drive where I need to import the file from the NAS to my PC to start using it?

Does the ram limitation affect transcoding of PLEX multimedia?
@holesintheplot2 жыл бұрын
I know this comment is 2 years old, but for anyone else who comes here, this NAS is limited to 720 and some 1080 transcoding.

thats garbage mate ! why would anyone buy that garbage over a Synology NAS (The entire point of a NAS is dependability - Pay the extra $95 and get Business Class Synology)
@pilsplease75612 жыл бұрын
I have literally one of the most expensive synology nas units you can buy, and they refused to help me with a software glitch and told me to buy a new one greedy bastards
