hey, i noticed that your formula for calculating fall damage was a bit weird, I would recommend calculating the speed before you hit the ground instead of the height, its the same one terraria uses

@@getromire hm pretty sure terraria fall damage is solely based on height (other than armour and stuff) and plus I like height because it’s more predictable

GREAT! one feature i would suggest is block-terrain-warping (this isn't a actual tool or thing, it is just what I'm gonna call it) if you place a block on the ground, the ground will connect and blend with the block this would be nice because it would make buildings that are connected to the ground look more sturdy and the building more polished, like the building now has a solid foundation this is a thing that happens in the base game

ohh yea thats a good idea however thats gonna be insanely difficult to make since all my blocks are using HISCM (basically super optimized stuff that contain little information so they're basically identical copies of each other) ill have to code some kind of shader, so ill add this to my list of todo for polishing

This looks amazing so far, although combat looks really hard as in normal terraria swords are really big, and not much aiming has to be done as its 2d. In this however swords and weapons are a lot thinner and the enemies have an entirely new dimension of movement, so maybe increase the hit boxes and sizing of weapons. Also do you plan to release this on steam? I would love to play it.

I believe with a lot of work this would become actually full fledge, building system does need some work, also, even if you think it breaks the theme of terraria, a 1st person mode would actually be great for building, much easier to make, also the scale of the game would seem bigger if in 1st person

I have a little plan that will help you organize your programing trip if you accept, it will be 1/ try to complete all blocks then materials (items) 2/ make all biomes then NPCs 3/complete all weapons then accessories then summons 4/ make all enemies then events including their bosses 5/ finish all bosses

Ohh that’s a good plan I’ll definitely follow the first three steps like that somewhat. However i kinda want to do enemies (surface) and early bosses before weapons and npc’s since they’re more interesting to make ..

Ok Do all enemies ---> NPCs ---> weapons And i have an idea for rod of discord, it would be like a ranged weapon, it shoots a non-harm thingy that have a hight gravity physic and when that thing touches a solid thing like block it will tp you to that place but it can pierces the bellow of all placed things so that's how to tp between caves. I hope you understood

Yeah that seems like one of the best ways to make it work in 3D but moving through the ground and into the sky will be difficult, sometimes impossible. Perhaps it could let you fly (and faze) through blocks but the longer you use it for, the more damage you take?

Little bit similar to that ender pearl but you'll not get damage and it is possible for it to pierce what above from solids you and tp you the first gap above you Shortly, the R.O.D have 2 features (1) is to tp you instantly from place to another place that you had shooted it in (2) is similar to (1) but there is an obstacle between you and the place so the projectile can go through that obstacle, once it pierce it you'll be teleported to that place

i think the focus on physics could really blur gameplay, doors should be similar to terraria where they automatically start to open when you get close instead, the cosmetic physics stuff is way cooler
