One gripe, major or minor, for every one of Mutant's P2 attacks. Just something I did for fun, don't take this seriously. If you want a guide, see the previous video. General complaints: - Why are platforms in Terraria the most inconsistent thing ever? Sometimes you drop right through them without your acceleration even stopping and your flight time doesn't refresh. Other times you'll be spamming S and it'll take a year to drop through. These things suck. They're actually shit. - Terraria movement is really shit in a fight like this. You think you couldn't go wrong with "press a or d to move" but every time I do anything in Terraria my character feels incredibly slippery. Deceleration is so goddamn slow. The following complaints go in order from Mutant's original attack pattern starting in phase 2, in Eternity mode. I apply the complaints based upon the conditions of my fight - obviously alot of these complaints aren't valid if you're fighting the boss the way it's intended to be - but complaining is fun! 1 - Alternating Laser Barrage: If you die during this attack with the Sands of Time item active, then you respawn perfectly just in time for Mutant to instantly kill you with his arena because he started the next attack without actually despawning. 2 - Predictive Penetrator Dashes: Thank god this attack is easy to dodge, but Mutant still executes this even if you die to the alternating laser barrage beforehand - letting him spawn kill you again if you respawn fast enough. 3 - Accelerating Phantasmal Eye Spiral: If you get trapped below a platform and you can't land on one with limited flight time, you are dead for the next attack. This attack is really good at trapping you in one place and doing that. Also, the first wave of eyes is always way tighter than the second ones, which is kind of annoying. 4 - Celestial Pillar Toss: Imagine having to circle the arena at a fixed rhythm, while having to try to fucking deal with the two most finnicky movement options in the game - dropping through platforms and grappling. Your grapple too slow (even though the thing is wildly inconsistent and dependent on player velocity)? Die to the pillar. Try to drop through a platform at a late timing? Die to a pillar. 5 - Demon Sickle Barrage: You literally just run away from it. This attack is way too easy to deal with once you know how the spawning mechanic works (in short: run away in a straight line until all the sickles spawn, then move up or down while running away - whichever one is away from Mutant, vertically), and downright frustrating without knowing how it DOES work. Glad they're reworking it. 6 - Penetrator Dashes: I wish dodging this was more complicated. You kind of just move in a zigzag pattern, or just run away. Kind of a boring attack, but no complaints. I'm not complaining about something that's easy to dodge but also looks cool. 7 - Destroyers and Predictive Penetrator Throws: Land on a platform for this attack and you are fucking dead - no buts, or ifs (you're probably not dead if you can do some crazy precise movement but 100% of times in my case, I was dead). You don't accelerate fast enough, up or down, to give yourself enough space to decelerate and react to Mutant tossing his Penetrator. 8 - Blazing Deathrays + Skeletron Heads: Trying to get into the safespot with fucking Terraria movement (aka: the most slippery movement in any game I've possibly every played) was pure ass. Moving left and right is an absolute shitfest in my experience, so I usually just go up and down to find the safespot, not left or right.
@squirrelfart2753 жыл бұрын
9 - Fishrons: You have to hold still so you don't get hit by the Fishrons even after they've dashed past you. Otherwise...it's too easy to dodge to get really angry about. 10 - Dash + True Eyes: If you fuck up the movement for this attack Mutant will park his ass right in front of you, in your line of flight away from danger, as you move away from the laser, and you'll ram into him and die. It's hilarious, but also pretty fucked. 11 - Mutant Bomb: The bomb actually killing you if you move out of the safespot is pretty inconsistent in my experience. Sometimes I reach out and get back in with no harm - othertimes I touch the border and die instantly. 12 - Slime Rain: So they buffed this attack, and with my speed parameters (Celestial Tracers, Calamity gear, etc.), if Mutant creates a safe spot on the far right, then the far left, then the far right again, you're fucked. Unless you optimise your movement extremely well (in short: moving up in the safe spot to get a head start on the next safe spot, then dropping downwards as you move to give yourself more time before the rain hits you), you're fucking dead, because you're not fast enough to reach the safe spots before you run out of room and you can't go farther down to give yourself more time. Obviously not an issue with the Flight Mastery Soul. Also, why doesn't Mutant create far-far left safe spots (like the same thing he does with the far right)? 14 - Phantasmal Orb Spirals: The orbs linger even after you exit the pattern. This is pretty annoying, but also heavily interferes with the next attack. For that reason, I always have to go down and exit the pattern in the middle, or else I'm giving myself a bad time. 15 - Penetrator Throws: If you exit the pattern by moving up and continue moving up to dodge this, you're squashed between the previous attack and this attack, and you die. So you always move vertically towards the center of the arena to dodge this attack - except if you have to drop through your platform, the timing is really finnicky and you die if you fuck it up (which is really easy). Also, the orbs left behind by the throw interfere with the NEXT attack, because they explode when they despawn. 16 - Twinrangs and Plantera Leaves: The fucking orbs left behind by the LAST attack explode and deny you being able to pre-emptively slide into the safespots closest to you - you need to WAIT for the orbs to explode, then SLIDE INTO the safe spot from outside of it before the twinrangs cut you off and kill you. The "real" safespot is some hideously small Pretty fricking annoying. Also, this attack interferes with the NEXT attack, and doesn't let you get far away from Mutant until after a threshold of time if you're in the four cardinal directions of safespots (directly up, down, left, and right of Mutant - if you're in the diagonal safe spots, no issue). Desperation attack: Why doesn't the arena expand the instant this phase starts? Not a major gripe, but it'd be nice. I mean, if the arena is already expanding to give you more room, might as well do it sooner than later. 1 - Alternating Laser Barrage: FUCK TERRARIA MOVEMENT. FUCK IT. I FUCKING HATE IT. In short, if you're dodging this by going BELOW Mutant, you're going to be fucking slip-sliding all over the goddamn fucking place and run into a laser and die. Standing on a platform makes it way more bearable - but if you can't put up with the shitty-ass ice-skating Terraria movement, get far away from Mutant on his LEFT or RIGHT - wing-based movement is much more consistent than sideways movement. 2 - Phantasmal Orb Spirals: If you're in any of the four cardinal directions away from Mutant, and touching the borders of the arena, you're automatically guaranteed a safe spot. Other than that, this attack is very tight but at least you can fly so you're not completely dependant on shitty Terraria sideways ice-skater movement. 3 - Phantasmal Eye Spirals: The first wave of eye bolts being the hardest to dodge really is something that killed me like, five times in the desperation attack. I don't like having to follow the spiral (especially with my movement criteria) 4 - Last Spark (something like that? I've never played Touhou): It'd be nice if Mutant could fucking tell me which way he's going to start sweeping his deathray, because I have no clue. In the video I almost run right into the deathray because I assume it'll be sweeping clockwise, but I'm pretty sure it just takes the closest path to you (like Abom's sword). Unlike Abom's sword, though, I choked on this thing like 5 times. Moral of the Story: Don't do this challenge. Nohitting him normally is bragging rights enough.

Is Fargo's Souls + Calamity doable? I love both mods, but i fear that Eternity Mode may conflict with Revengeance mode to a point that it becomes unplayable. Can i combine those 2 to a nice (and painful) SoE run? I plan to do so once tmod 1.4 comes out
@squirrelfart2753 жыл бұрын
It's doable, but certainly not fair or balanced. AI changes overlap, so you get weird interactions, but the bosses aren't outright impossible, just very difficult in that janky sort of way. Golem is the only boss that's outright impossible, because his hands and head become invincible. You should know as well that Mutant's Calamity enrage has been removed in latest version and Calamity's 1.5 update (slated to come out before a playable Calamity 1.4 tmod) does a significant amount of reducing post-ML damage and health values (boss kill-times are the same, the numbers are just lower), so the two mods might not mesh together as well (although they still should roughly fit, I think).

@@squirrelfart275 ty a lot for the comment. Is Fargos good with Thorium then? I really like the idea of getting the Soul Of Eternity, and i saw that Thorium DLC has even more enchantments then Calam DLC. What is your opinion about Fargos + Thorium?
@squirrelfart2753 жыл бұрын
@@inexistente8622 have yet to play Thorium, but there should be no direct incompatibilities. It is two content mods mixing however, don't expect a smooth difficulty curve, and if you want to keep things fair, try to use only the mod's items to beat the mod's bosses (so match your loadouts with the mod of the boss)

@@squirrelfart275 ty, ill do it. I plan to do Fargos Souls because it has that feeling of starting weak, but being godlike in the endgame. Also Throium DLC adds many new things, and i love to collect stuff. Im ok with the dificulty curve, since my pc cant stand beating 100 bosses at once for the fargos weapons 😔👍

@squirrelfart27511 ай бұрын
It's been like years since this video's initial release, but the "enrage" is just a stat adjustment to balance for Calamity + eMode accessories. If you wanna fight an enraged Mutant nowadays (tMod v1.4.4) download the Fargo's Souls DLC Mod and enable Calamity's Death mode, and then progress as normal. The fight is tuned and balanced for both mods' combined progression, as well as the entire DLC getting more incorporation with mods it's a DLC of. Mutant also gets some new attacks >:)

Mutant has two Enraged states - one when Calamity is enabled, where his damage quadruples and defense doubles and he gains 177 million health (as seen in the video), and one when using Mutant's Fury, which does the exact same thing to his health, defense and damage values but also causes him to spawn every single *vanilla* boss at the same time. With my gear, the vanilla bosses die in less than a second and serve only to be a laggy and short-lasting nuisance so I didn't bother with that. I'm pretty sure the wiki states that mutant is enraged when Calamity is enabled anyway. Also, do you care to point out where I got hit in the video? In Terraria, your wings do not count as part of your hitbox, and the Phantasmal Eye attack's hitboxes are much smaller than the sprite itself (they used to be visually smaller, but then they got turned bigger while their hitbox wasn't changed). Multiple attacks (as well as my player character) also leave afterimages, which can be misinterpreted as the projectile itself.

@squirrelfart2753 жыл бұрын
@@Pruv ...which circle? Looking at 0:12 frame-by-frame (use the comma and period keys to see for yourself), Mutant's blazing deathray attack doesn't even touch me at all - when they spawn, they deliberately leave a safe spot directly in front of and behind him to give the player enough time to react and go to the safe zone before the full circle of deathrays spawn. The only other circles that spawn are the ones from Mutant's phase transition, which don't do damage. The targeting reticles that appear as part of the blazing deathray attack are telegraphs indicating the trajectory of the Skeletron Prime heads. My weapon, Eternity, also spawns a circle around Mutant - that shouldn't do damage to me either. I don't hear a player damage noise. I play with a female character, so the hurt noise should be significantly higher pitched - even so, it's possible that the damage noise could've come from the Astral Injections (which damage the user). The noise that plays when I touch the circle spawned by my own weapon at 0:12, roughly, is Moon Lord's laser noise, as well as the noise that activates when you trigger Adrenaline, as well as the noise that triggers whenever I use the Demonshade Armour's set bonus (also indicated by a burst of red particles at the player sprite and a buff appearing in the buff bar). Me triggering the Demonshade enrage on Mutant as I run into the circle created by my weapon is the thing I see here. Try to be more specific, please.
