There's a lot of games with the splitting mechanic. Borderlands has some that you really need to learn the right distance on like the Lyuda, a full auto snipe that has one of the highest DPS's in the game.

Ive got the same memory about the nidhogg from borderlands 1, if you can get the right distance on the shot, all projectiles will hit dealing massive damage

I never used the dart rifle until my last playthrough and it's pretty incredible, especially with an enclosed boss arena and crystal darts. Just goes to show you should try out all weapons, particularly rare drops and boss drops

Graves R from League of Legends works similarly to the Ichor darts, after traveling a certain distance or hitting an enemy it expands into a cone shape, dealing more damage and being able of hitting more targets

For an endgame farm if you're still crafting the Zenith, then using Celebration 2 with mini nukes is a great way to shred through bosses for loot bags. With ranged accessories it does nearly as much damage as meta Zenith.

My gripe with rockets and Launchers is the same problem I have with nearly everything that is Post-Plantera: There’s very little progression left in the world by that point that I don’t get much of a sense of satisfaction from using them. They otherwise look like they would be a fun ranged alternative to guns and bows throughout the game if they were only legitimately available pre-Hardmode or at LEAST pre-Plantera.

The splitting shot mechanic you remember from 10 years ago? Yeah that is coming from borderlands 2 and about 3 or 4 different weapons that have split off projectiles that do different things. like the pimpernel, sawbar, swordsplosion, lyudmila and more!

I tend to use the dart rifle with ichor darts to act as a constant debuff weapon against bosses so I can use a different type of bullet with another debuff or a higher base damage

5:17 LASTLY lastly: ichor darts have the unique advantage of before splitting up, not only do they pierce infinitely, they also don't inflict ANY kind of immunity frames, meaning that even using it at really close range deals a LOT of damage, especially against large, compact groups of enemies. (funny how all of the hardmode darts are in some way powerful against large groups of enemies)

It’s true that most launchers are bad but the snowman cannon is insanely good, borderline overpowered. It has homing, very fast fire rate, and no self damage. It wrecks both crowds and bosses. Against groups I’d say cluster is better, it’s also cheaper than mini nukes which are ridiculously expensive in shroomite. Anyway try out the snowman cannon if you haven’t, it’s so good. It just melts everything.

The best example of minding range for splitting projectiles is the flare gun from Blood. The alt-fire can be either a waste of 8 flares if you fire it at things too close, or a murderous storm of fire that'll roast even big packs of high-tier mooks.

4:29 actually i have seen concept of a bullet splitting into many other bullets in Crossout, that MMO RPG game that is actually good. there's a shotgun that can only shoot once before reloading, and it shoots a single projectile that splits into 10+ bullets after some distance. it's one of these "fun but difficult to use" weapons. i'm not really fan of it, but it's pretty cool.

RoadHog from "Overwatch" has a secundary shot that starts out as a ball of nuts and bolts, and after a distance (10Meters i think) spreads out like a shot gun, maby that is what the "Icor Darts" reminds you of?

Cursed Darts also combo REALLY well with the DD2 ranger armors, as their set bonuses make the explosive traps oil enemies, resulting in extra fire damage.

the Bekah in Borderlands 2 and 3 both split into 3 projectiles at a specific range you can get all 4 projectiles to hit if you have the perfect range the Lyuda has this property aswell
