IMO, the water bolt is better for this fight. It would probably hit more times, thus doing more damage. Edit: in the mobile edition, using heart arrows makes any fight 20x easier, as it freezes enemies.

Even though this method won't work in 1.3, it can still work in early hardmode, and you could get the cultists to spawn in the dungeon early. Plus in 1.2 or earlier, you can absolutely obliterate plantera with the drops from the golem.

Here's one big thing I want to point out right now: On Terraria mobile, one interesting thing I noticed is that it's still pre-1.3 as of the current day (July 2018), so this trick would work, right? Well, I've found out before that on mobile, Lihzahrd enemies do indeed spawn inside the temple pre-hardmode, however, they are restricted to only being in the temple, inside the temple door only. Knowing this it's reasonable to say that the Golem will be spawnable from this point in the game. Knowing this, we could do this on Mobile if the hoik is possible. If I can get this to work, I will come back to this video and say the results, however I'm not 100% sure this is possible. Assuming this, there is a possibility this isn't truly possible. However, some alternative may be possible instead. Edit: I've done not even that much work, however, it seems that the hoik is impossible on mobile, for some reason, maybe if a different hoik method is found it could be tested to see if it could be used, but for now, I can say this doesnt work on mobile.

I’ve never done this myself, but back in 1.2 I managed to get glitchy Jungle Temple on one of my first worlds, there was honestly just a hole in the wall and I could walk in. I did it back before I knew what Golem was. So technically, it’s possible to beat this guy without hoiking. I’ve even managed to glitch inside through the power of explosives and knockback before.

No, you need to defeat all mechanical boses to figth planterra, and (in the current version of terraria) golem can't be summoned if you don't defeat planterra earlier.

But it only spawns when you kill plantera...and plantera only spawns when you kill the three mechanical bosses... and you need souls which means you need to get into hard mode to get these souls... Unless you get the mechanical bosses from a different world then you can't do this.

A long time ago I used to play terraria with my brother on xbox. We found a dungeon temple that generated with a giant chunk taken out of it, right where the door was. Because of this, we were able to fight golem before plantera, and for the longest time I thought that was just how it was. Golem is way easier than Plantera....

I did this myself except a different way...I just found a hole in the temple and took all the traps and wired them in the golems chamber and when I summoned him I just flicked the switch and watched him perish... Edit:This was before I defeated the wall of flesh too
