Lathrix, think of it this way. Nomads would, when coming to an area for a time, set up camp to eat and rest and drink, and then strike said camp to move to a new location. You could think of it as making a camp for fabrication of items that you set up and strike down at will to fit your nomadic whims. Just a thought.

*Sure*, you could build a base to use the scrapper and fabricator. But you could also make a base with the scrapper and fabricator on wheels with missiles! ( and an anchor block )

Hey, Lathrix, if you ever decide to start a new campaign in the future, I'd really like to see you try my no solar challenge. It's concept is really simple, the main rule being (as the title suggests) that you're not allowed to use solar panels for power production (except at the very beginning as part of the partial tutorial) meaning all your power production will be coming from furnaces or other means. There are some extra rules you can apply to make things ever more challenging and interesting, like a nomadic playstyle, size rules, and battery count rules, and I think it'd be interesting to see someone like yourself take a whack at it, especially with some of the additional rules, as they actually affect things like enemy tech spawns and promote new play styles and challenges you'll have to face in your trek across the planetscape. If you're interested in the idea, feel free to reply and let me know, and I'll give you the rundown.

The base would normally be built on the ground so making a movable base mean that certain assets like the Hawkeyes turret is unusable and it gonna be real hard comparing to just making a big mech. Also building multiple base gonna kill FPS

well, now that you mentioned that you thought about building a base but youre playing as a nomad, my idea should be perfect. you could build a platform with its bottom covered by venture hovers what would make it quite out of reach for the enemies and it would be mobile. if you would want it to drift constantly you could add a few of those hovers on its side since they produce constant propulsion. then just add a few gyroscopes and youre good to go. it should look epic as well

If you want to make a base, build a huge harvester/refining/manufacturing craft that can anchor when the base features are needed. Also for hard mode make it fly.

@Lathland - I'd suggest making separate craft. One to harvest (NOT SELL)... another to compress them into bricks. I'd suggest Venture fabricator compression.. since it's only 8 per block (120 for GeoCorp, but the compressor is my main tech). Then make another to sell and make things to sell (t3 components). Don't forget.. tech can anchor on the fly.. no need to build a true stationary base.

Nomads did have pop up housing. Its how they followed ther food sources, having a pop up base matches this nomadic lifestyle. Possibly modular pop ups, specialized in specific purposes

I think instead of a base it should be a giant mobile base, complete with an artillery tower and some harvesting capability. Kinda like a mix of A Bot and B Tech.

Go for small dedicated bases you spawn when needed. My 8x8 selling base can be easily changed for scrapping or charging, the 18x12 production base is thrown down when automining or midway between several quest givers.

Well latherix all you need to know to make a hovercraft is that GSO is more to the ground and venture hovers are more for hover drones I.E they have more lift power. I love the small compact simple techs,

Bare minimum, make a Charging Station base; it makes the 'can't attach to the ground' issue go away. Also, while you can find the parts, it's easier to get them from crafting and then buying them after.

Instead of making a base, why don't you make a train? Same as the trailer but in a sequence. You could have so much storage, different sections for different purposes, and have detachable aircraft and harvesters. Then just go full nomad and stop spawning different techs in and out.

Make a scrapping/crafting base, but put it on treads like a Jawa sand crawler! You get your base, but it's mobile so you're still being nomadic. Now that I say that of course I think I'm going to steal this idea. I'll put some harvesting parts on it so I can gather up the materials and craft with them or turn them into resource blocks for later use... I kind of like trying to craft more stuff than just buy it from the terminals.

Lathrix here is a idea for the base, since you have the caterpillar tracks from GenCorp you can make a huge model base that you can let it follow you or let it sit and wait.

the way id do the base is have it so it's capable of mobility, move it every few episodes and set up a temporary base and it could be even more of a challenge if you avoid despawning it.

The jump and hover capability for the bike is awesome. You could travel in a straight line, straight through invasions and hordes of the undead, or over them, as the case might be. I am only assuming that one day there will be hordes of the undead, of course. But it seems to be a thing. So why not prepare?

if u take out the gyro stabilizer it lets u go up in the air, flip upside down, then press W for a very fast turn around.

Also, I think that you should make a vehicle that acts as your base. That way, you can have defenses, have a refinery, all that stuff, but then if you have to move, you can do it immediately, and you don't have to switch (though, you could also do what you do with Abot, where you have the mobile anchor).
