whats with all the dislikes? Terre is a legend and I love it whenever (video) interview comes around

Great interview. Sprinkles makes such beautiful house. And I think he is talking about not cheapening a creative product when he talks about certain websites. It's why a lot of small labels like PPU and even single artists like Soundstream will only release some stuff on vinyl because it makes it special. Exposure is very geographically contextual; If you live in New York City and don't go to your record shop or coffee shop or loft parties you are missing the community aspect of promotion and creation. It's an investment as compared to posting on soundcloud or making youtube comments. :)

Great interview. Ironically, people are now discovering him on KZbin thanks to this vid.

It's interesting that he seems so opposed to Internet presence. He used to be fairly present online, accessible to fans and critics alike - but perhaps he's just disappointed with where things went since the 1990s. His album Tranquilizer (Instinct, 1994) was almost constantly in rotation in my studio.

A few weeks ago I commented on how I felt one of your videos was lacking... Thus I must let you know that you more than made up for it with this one, such a good interview. Real things were actually discussed. Big ups dubstep, we need more mediums to point out the elephants in the room ;>

dont agree with his idea of making his website harder to navigate as a form of testing committment to him as an artist. Hes assuming that were only interested in artists through convenience websites like youtube which is not true. Yes i will probably discover most artists through youtube, but thanks to discovering them if i want to find out more about them I will find interviews and biographies outside of 'shopping mall' sites. By visiting your website Im already displaying a desire to find out more about you, why make it inconvenient after ive made this gesture?

In my opinion, Terre is talking about the culture that presides over finding music on the web. In which he goes on to generally cover themes of ; overly simplistic consumer based websites, third party uploading, fringe media and digital communities that tend to be focused around breadth of content rather than depth of content. Which are all interesting topics that this interview cant do justice to. Thaemlitz puts a lot of effort into the 'meaning' behind his music, and a lot of the time this means its seen as 'different', 'unconventional' or as I would put it 'postmodern'. As I understand it - he places value upon the fact that his music isn't accessible to the sanitised masses and would like to encourage consumers to take the time to understand it. His music and his website - true to form are an expression of his identity and the ideas that make him different (and to an extent revolutionary). Where in a society we give value to 'likes' and 'ease of use' this tendancy to create difficulty for users alike is a counter cultural act of defiance. This in turn makes you think about the issues he's addressing - and clearly you have.

People can't navigate his website? Besides the Katakana, it's not hard. Wait a min. This is the average user on the internet.
