To echo what Terrell was saying, Jonathon writes music that really shows how a journey with God is not always a perfect, pristine one. Sometimes, Gospel music can have this righteous, saved, sanctified and spiritual correctness about it. He visited my church several times. Never really connected to his music because I'm deaf. I was in a different state and visited a church there. Sat in deaf ministry area right near front and here he comes to minister. He sang, the interpreter interpreted but I looked at him more, and finally he looked right at me and began signing "Yes Jesus Loves Me". I finally got that connection and began paying more attention to his lyrics.
