I am eternally grateful for each new video you guys put out. They bring to life the books I have read and begun to attempt to put in to practice, failing often. This is not gender based. Shaming a child for their feelings creates loss of the true self. A development of a false self as a defense against the shame (masterson). Shame turned inward = depression shame tuned outward is controlling others. (A part of narcissism, they can't look inside and have no insight.) yes no intimacy which is more than just sex.

Thank you for this- I am a woman and was also the "Slave God" in my family. I think this is a genderless phenomenon. I have an ex-stepmom as well as Great Aunt and and couple of aunts (all of whom I no longer speak to because of the exploitative and abusive nature of their behavior) do the emotional incest thing to me as early as my tweens, my mom may have slipped into that as well from time to time...
