Eigenjagd2007 Thanks for the comment!! It is so because these trees have a disease that her alsjukan. Drills holes and beat down poison vials for killing the root so it does not spread to other trees

Eigenjagd2007 Elm disease is a fungal disease of elm trees which is primarily spread by almsplintborren, and secondarily by the overgrowth from tree to tree via root contact.
