For some reason. Zombie prepping feels like the ideal thing to prep for. Not because zombies but because it forces you to prepare for many different types of situations. If you are ready for zombies, you are ready for pretty much any natural or manmade disaster. Plus, it's fun to prepare for zombies. Way harder to get hyped for prepping for an earthquake or such, not as much fun movies to watch while organizing survival tools.

My dad got me into making a bug out bag. He passed. I was reading a couple book series about apocalypses. I bought a couple masks for my fiancee & I that would seal tight. I told him that it obviously can work with bleaching the basement & other things. He told me "Yeah, when will we ever actually need to use masks?". That was right before covid. I rarely use this power, but I have indeed once said trust me... You didn't think we needed masks either. 😂

Over the course of about 5 years I watched ALS take my mother in law from a very active horse riding outdoorsy cowgirl to a wheel chair ridden paralyzed unable to even talk and eventually not able to breath and suffocating to death husk of a person. The section from 2:45:43 , How the Super Rich are Preparing, is very similar to the job of the main character of the book Posh Prepper by Todd Knight. That main character was the one designing these plans and putting everything for them in place. The book also portrayed one of the most realistic scenarios for an apocalypse I've ever read. If you liked this, you should read it.

I used to think svalbard was a great idea. But as you pointed out its a terrible location we need seed banks in every country not just one portion of the world. They also need be able to be opened by any survivor during an apocalypse. Should something happen to those who run scabbard. Noone has access. I also doubt It has a fail safe that allows any human to open it during the end of the world. This potentially makes the entire structure a useless waste of money. I'm not saying I'm against it. Just realized the flaws. If the world ends and I survive and noone else who knows about scabbard does (low chance but possible) how do I get there? How do I gain access.. I can't therefore its absolutely a waste of time money and resources. Also having done more research they refuse access to even scientific research of the seeds meaning we don't even know if they'll still be alive in 10 years...
