Terrifying Lion Roar at Lincoln Park Zoo

6 year old African Lion Sahar roars at curious human onlookers in Lincoln Park Zoo enclosure. Perhaps he calls out to his lost 18 y/o companion lioness who had to be put down recently due to old age.
I would absolutely NOT want to come across this sound in the wild!

Well most of these lions in captivity are trying to be bread so they can one day be let out into the wild so they can bread in the wild. Also for the time being hearing their roars is Awesome.

I work at the zoo right outside the city and I must say that the enclosure Lincoln Park has for their lions and other animals are quite small. Disappointing that a zoo so loved by tourists treats their animals like guinea pigs in such tiny cages. Would love for them to expand their exhibits more.

But the Kovler Lion House at Lincoln Park Zoo will soon undergo a huge renovation. These three lions - male Sahar and lionesses Kamali and Zalika - were recently moved to Rolling Hills Zoo in Salina, Kansas. I remember when these beautiful sisters Kamali and Zalika were born at the Oregon Zoo in 2013. Kamali is the one with the scarring on her left front leg.

I invite everyone who has commented on this video to come to the zoo and see where they live now. This habitat has been changed to the cost of $42 million. This video is so out of date. And also, whomever filmed this never went outside to see all the space the lions had out there. He/she walked right by it.

As someone who studies animal care, that enclosure is way too small. Lions need lots of space to exhibit natural behaviours like chasing food, hiding, playing and sleeping. It’s a little unusual that this lion is roaring, but he’s showing a stereotypical behaviour which is pacing. Pacing normally occurs when an animal is an too small of an enclosure. The roaring is probably distress, but it could also be territorial since there is a lioness. This lion desperately needs a bigger enclosure otherwise it could suffer with psychological problems.
