Yes, and as a trans person I can tell you that the vast majority of us will see it as a mistake, and immediately accept your apology, if you apologize for making the mistake and you actually mean it. I can also tell you that we usually know when people actually mean it, of course some people don’t interpret emotional cues as well, but that’s true for every genre of human. I often get misgendered and the I correct them, and move on. I accidentally misgender people sometimes. I apologize and that’s it. There was Althea comment where the commenter said if they misgendered a person they would apologize and then refer to the trans person as “it” for the rest of the evening. You know, maybe its not us, the trans people, that are the problem, but maybe it’s the people that literally don’t even see us as human. A few fringe cases possibly taken out of context is not evidence for trans people being unreasonable. Yeah, on some levels, respect needs to be earned. A firefighter that saves lives deserves more respect than a corrupt politician. But every human is entitled to a basic human respect. Transphobes don’t even think of us as human a lot of the time, or they don’t treat us with the same basic respect that any human deserves.

As a 42 year old male in Australia reading your comment, I would like to reply with my genuine sincerity to it from my position as a male. I honestly feel that these men are now the most socially acceptable out of all men. I do not hear anything positive about men. No lie, it's been years and years of negativity, me too, don't need no man, don't want no man, boss babe. I do not see any other message now apart from 'toxic' 'too masculine' 'oppressive' 'controlling'......so traditional male is now the taint. I as a male have not heard any other messages, certainly non of support. So if I'm hearing this messaging about men, then a young male would certainly start to see patterns in being more accepted by women when not appearing traditional male, which goes back to my very first point of these emasculated men being more preferred amongst women. A woman successfully sued her employer recently for intentionally and consistently misgendering her months after her transition. It set a precedence. Which I welcome. Other hate crimes can include, ableism, racism, misogyny, homophobia. Google hate crimes successfully charged and you can see relevant cases.
