You know what? That's a great idea! Many dogs end up victims of abuse on the street. Mainly because some sick humans have fun hurting random animals. A sanctuary would be great! I think street dogs shouldn't be euthanized for existing. I think it's people's fault for letting dogs roam around and breed on the streets. Every creature deserves love and attention even if it is not perfect.

There have been calls for dog pounds and shelters in the US to stop killing their dogs. That won't happen until cities and towns start taxing their citizens to pay for the huge increases in space food meds and volunteers that would be needed. It's a very difficult thing to have no kill shelters when people keep breeding and abandoning dogs. This woman in Costa Rica was given that land to her by her late father and that's the ONLY way she could have started her sanctuary. He probably gave her a sizable sum of money and investment income as well. But think about the USA. Villalobos(House of Dogs) in New Orleans is afaik the largest no kill shelter in this country. They use unpaid parolees from Louisiana jails and prisons and they presently house about half the dogs Territorio has. They do a lot of fundraising as well. There needs to be a national movement to stop pounds and shelters from killing their animals but the powers that be, along with the citizens, have to be willing to raise taxes to pay for what will have to be done .
