Funny thing is, Terry lived over the hill from us when he played. He normally drove a navy blue Suburban back then! Us kids used to hang out on the hill above his townhouse. He would come out on the deck to his townhouse and say "What y'all doing up there on the hill?"

I never made the connection between the 79 Daytona 500 race finish and the 81 Cannonball Run movie until I did some research for my first post. At the end of the 79 Daytona 500, Cale Yarborough and Donnie Alison got into an " on track incident " that spilled over into an " off track incident " . ( As a side note, this was the first live TV coverage of the race and the CY / DA incident put NASCAR on the map ) The car Terry ( as CY ) and Mel were driving was painted to look like the car Donnie Alison drove in the 79 Daytona 500. I'm betting this was planned. . . .

Yes only 1817 anniversary editions had the 400 with the Borg Warner Super T-10 4-speed. A few other 79 had the 4-speed too but MOST were autos. 1979 set a record for most F-bodys ever sold. Over 211,000.

8,672 Trans Ams and Formula's got the 400 4 spd. for 79 W72 400 underated @ 220 hp more like 260 hp - NHRA Rates them @ 285 hp - Hot Rod Magazine got a 14.6 @ 96 mph out of a Stock 79 T/A W72 400 4 spd. Quickest car then for 78-79 😎 @@yukonjack.
