How on Earth can such an artist be so little known by the general public. We live in a grotesque world.

Terry's story really is like the phoenix. Packed it in in the late 70s when his career stalled. Studied computer science. Worked in IT. Then Eddie Pillar from Acid Jazz played I Don't Want to See Myself (Without You) & had to find this unknown star. Had a great 2nd career until his death. RIP Terry.

I’m an European living in USA now. Mid to late 90’s my uncle gave me a cassette (an album) of Terry Callier. Was blown away!!! Was shocked that almost no one ever heard of this wonderful musician here in the USA. Some people are creating something amazing in their existence but never got proper recognition. Sad…

Man I wasted 40 years of life cause I had never stumbled across Terry until a few years ago!
@blueangel35514 жыл бұрын
Heard this track one day while gliding painlessly around London in the best car in the world from one comfortable event to another. Not this version - the stripped down original aired by JazzFM back when it was connected more to live music. The imagery and soundscape blew me away. I saw the man a few years later in the Jazz Cafe in Camden. If ever there was an example of the transformative effect of religious belief on music and on an audience, for me it was Terry and his music. Even today, 20 years later, I haven't forgotten the arresting effect his music had. The world is a poorer place without him.

My younger brother is 19 years old. He caught Meningitis in college and fell into a deep deep coma. We were told by his neurologist that IF he ever woke up he would be a vegetable. 16 days later he awoke from his coma... Now 3 days later, he is sitting up in bed and answering yes & no questions with nods and breathing on his on for periods of time while they ween him off the respirator. We have a long road ahead of us.... But I just want to say LIFE is in GODS hands! Prayer is saving my brother not the Doctors.
@debicon19566 жыл бұрын
I am a Ph.D. brain specialist who worked with a team of doctors treating a variety of brain disorders. I am very concerned that the government is slashing money left and right for research that will save lives, and keep people well, which saves the government money in the long run. But sometimes some doctors pray right alongside the family - because sometimes there is nothing left to do, and/or that is part of their faith..
@debicon19566 жыл бұрын
I am so glad to see your brother made it. I am a neuropsychologist who worked treating people with brain injuries for years. I never once heard a doctor, Ph.D,M.D., or D.O. tell a patient's family that they would be a "vegetable", although sometimes the family heard it that way. They may be confusing it with a term that is pretty much out of date today - a "persistent vegetative state". Recovery from coma is not well understood, even after the person regains consciousness (did my dissertation on this).
