Pornography, I believe, helps fuel the fantasy of women being simply objects to toss around sexually. I think that's why Nate Parker, in his mind, didn't see a problem with inviting his friend, someone Jennifer didn't even know, in to have sex with her when she was intoxicated. I mean, it happens in porn: multiple guys, strangers, on one woman. The danger and tragedy comes in when one realizes that the way they are wired, the woman actually wanted a relationship: Jennifer liked Nate Parker. But Nate Parker not only had sex with her but invited a stranger in to have sex with her as well without asking her if it was okay, not that she could've give full consent being that she was intoxicated, and treated her like a porn star to suit his fantasy while feeling nothing for her: “'I don’t know how to explain this to you, but she is not the kind of girl that I would date,' Parker said, according to Weaver’s testimony."

@Onion Potato Men really want to be oppressed don’t they. You realise why it’s the man making the money for a woman?? It’s not women doing this to men it’s the systems men have built up to oppress women affecting them. Women weren’t allowed to open bank accounts for decades, they had to live off the husbands money. And why is that? Because men told women they were weak and that the should stay home and look after the children. It’s so deeply ingrained in our culture now it was in those movies, it is not women who put these systems in place. Stop blaming women for their own oppression.
@charlief20853 жыл бұрын
@Onion Potato Please enlighten me on these “extra rights”
@charlief20853 жыл бұрын
@Onion Potato I agree that these are problems but I fear you don’t want to hear the reason why some of these are issues. Take a guess as to why women are protected and men aren’t? Because women are seen as weak and can’t fend for themselves, who came up with that idea? Men. The reason women get custody over children is because women are expected to care for children and men aren’t. Who came up with that idea? Men. Why don’t men have help with domestic abuse? Because women are seen as too weak to hurt a man and if a woman does hurt a man he is expected to deal with it. It wasn’t women who told men they had to hide their emotions. It was men. I’m not denying those issues are a problem and we certainly should solve them but you can’t solve an issue without finding the root problem and that problem is the patriarchy. You sound like you would be a feminist as they do look at these issues. Although I’m not sure about the women living longer part, I think that is just biology.
@emilyantonia1972 жыл бұрын
He’s right. I have always felt that disconnect between men and women. I wish it wasn’t like that, I love men, but they also scare me. I don’t feel that my feelings or opinions are important to them, so I avoid them completely. Women are taught to cater to men and I don’t think love is one sided. I’m sure some men feel similarly about women, but this is more of an issue of being the man; the central figure. Whilst the woman is just an accessory. We are human beings, just like you. Just because it’s normalised to see women like that, doesn’t mean it’s the truth.
@BashaerB-h2c2 жыл бұрын
Eloquently expressed 👏 As women, since most men don't see us as humans, we should channel that love towards ourselves, other women, children and pets that deserve it instead of men. Maybe one day that will force them to wake up and acknowledge our humanness. Even if it doesn't happen, who cares because men like those aren't even worth caring about. After understanding how most men really are, I stopped giving them time of day or attention because their view of women disgusts and repels me to no end. Only real men deserve our attention. Men I think tell themselves lots of lies to make their bad behavior seem okay. That's called rationalization. Men dehumanize women, in order to rationalize their bad behavior. Dehumanization and violence have been found to be directly correlated and women are hurt and assaulted with alarming regularity. Objectifying women or anyone else is never a benign process, it's based on a lie that there's a separate species of human that falls under the classification of "non human." Once you believe in the idea that there are non-humans that look like humans, but are instead objects, then all the sudden every bad thing you do, is just okay- I mean, they aren't human, so they don't feel pain like you do, so abusing them is fine- so you don't have to bear the burden of guilt. Self-assuaging logic is always faulty. If women are believed not to be human, then how is it that we give birth to humans? If we were non-human we would give birth to other animals like deer. The logic of mainstream masculinity is lacking so much, it's a good thing that men have the physical power to compensate. Or to put it more appropriately, their physical strength may offset their psychological weakness. It takes a strong person to admit to themselves what reality is, and face the pain that follows that knowledge. A weak person instead, will avoid the truth and use every rationalization in the book to attempt to dissociate from the knowledge that they are doing something wrong. Deep down, I think men know it's wrong, but they love their privilege too much to give it up. Men are only half of the only sentient species we know of in the universe and the way they treat the other half of the species is barbaric and wrong. There is no justification for it. What sex organs you have really doesn't give you the power to define right or wrong. Or, in other words, a penis in no way makes you a deity who's exempt from consequences for bad behavior. If you have all the power, as men do, and ruin the planet, the act doesn't become good just because men think it's their right to dominate and screw things up because it's pleasurable. Men are mortals like the rest of us. A person can think they're a god and above the law until the karma, or consequence, from all their bad behavior comes to collect them. Maybe it will take a climate crisis catastrophe that wipes out most of the species or some other by-product of patriarchy to teach these people that what they're doing is not working. Don't expect much change until then. Hopefully, these problems will teach our violent, confused species to start being mindful of our true place in the universe. Men are just flesh and blood creatures who live within limitation like the rest of us. Rather than glorifying the sexual act, maybe men need to do some deep contemplation about why their base drives are so pressing that they feel the need to hurt others. Maybe they need to look within themselves and find what is really lacking in their lives. If they can sort that out, good for them. Until then, expect our current problems to escalate.

All men , and people in general, were tools for me. That the name of the game for many (NOT ALL - not the ones with self esteem), they are only trying to better themselves. Sadly at the woman's expense. Like going to work. Some people go to work to take as much as they can while giving as little as they can get away with. I would imagine there would be a correlation between people that take at work and people that take in their personal lives.

Respect to Terry for saying this. As a man, a lot of us are exposed to pornography young. I'm talking elementary school I saw nudity in the 90s. Terry's story of overcoming porn addiction inspired me. Once I quit porn I was able to find a godly woman. She is my queen, but the battle is not over. Being in a relationship is more than just sexual, it's all about communication, and I'm learning this as she's my first long term relationship. Be patient with us ladies, a lot of us are unlearning our bad habits from boyhood and adolescent behavior. It takes time.

Can we get her side of the story and how she’s doing in the relationship. I’m not taking a man’s word speaking on his woman and her state of being that easy. Let her speak for herself. We’d like to hear her take! And no, come prepared for the relationship as a man. Take the time in your singleness to get your stuff together and heal. Don’t bring that into a relationship. Just by you “just give us time” is demeaning. No! It’s expected of the women to know how to be in a healthy relationship. It’s about time men do the same, and prep themselves. You got lucky. But a lot of men are learning and going to learn the hard way that a lot of women of today have decentered men. And if we decide to engage; either you must be fully developed as a man or you getting left with your other single brethren. It is not a woman’s place to help raise, evolve, and make a man better. That’s a lie patriarchy has told men. Do your work! But again! I’d like to hear from her!

This comment section is really one sided. What Terry says is absolutely true and that's part of his experience. But when discussing topics about objectification, I believe that people like him are not fit to be a spokesperson. Please bring in proper analysts who have actually done research and carried experiments on a greater sample size. It is absolutely true that when a man is attracted to a certain woman sexually, they would find them as 'objects,' this has actually been proven as it has to do with a part of brain that lowers it's levels when it sees objects and rises when it sees humans. However, here's the funny part, tests shows that similar objectification occurs in the brains of women when they see an attractive or successful man. And so far the results are pretty balanced, that there is equal objectification, just that men tend to act upon it more than women.

@@scientist_32484 I saw them as humans. But when I saw sexy women e.g. female pornstars, Princess Xena, Britney Spears, Jessica Alba, I did not think of how their parents or siblings would feel about me lusting over them...and when I was thinking about marrying a sexy woman, I did not think of their parents or siblings or their close family members (their reaction to my lusting over the sexy woman)...the lust part of my brain was predominate and in control over those moments and I saw the sexy women as both human and sex objects. I would think about all the sexual things I would do to the women (nothing rapey, just fantasy) and I would fantasize about being the husband or lover of the sexy women and I would think about their pretty faces and their boobs and the revealing clothes that they were wearing and I would think about them being naked and I would think about doing sexual stuff with them. Ever since I was around 6 years old, I have been thinking about women that way...but I remember watching a show on the television when I was around 16 years old and it was called 'The Millionaire Matchmaker'...and I remember watching shows like The Real Housewives of Orange County and The Millionaire Matchmaker just to get turned on by the sexy women there...and I remember this millionaire man who was choosing which woman to date with the help of the matchmaker (Patti Stanger). When I saw the woman that was chatting to him (a hot woman with long, black hair who was wearing red clothes) I remember being quite turned on by her and the matchmaker was asking the millionaire questions like 'Do you have a crush on her after you two have got to know each other?'and his reply surprised me a lot...because I had never thought about it that way until he said it. At that time, I was only thinking about the physical aesthetics of women, and I did not care about how their parents or siblings or immediate family would feel. But this millionaire guy was hesitant about the matchmaker's question and he replied that he wanted to get to know this woman's family better and he said that marriage is about marrying into another family (that there needs to be compatibility with the mother-in-law, father-in-law, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law) and that it isn't just about the physical aesthetics of the woman herself. This kind of blew my mind, because like I said, I mostly saw the sex object side of sexy women, and I never considered their close family members. After he said that, I then thought of women more as human beings and less as sex objects. Well, whenever I see a very attractive/hot/sexy woman in public, I still lust over them and fantasize over them in my mind but I also think about how their family members would be feeling and I don't think of the women as sex objects alone. My mindset about women is how 90 percent of us men who are turned on by women feel.

I’m more than just a piece of meat or an object for you to conquer sexually… I dress up and love on my body because I feel good on the inside and I feel good expressing myself. There’s a difference between being dogmatic and appreciating beauty while being respectful. If a man tells me I look nice, it makes my heart melt because of the intention and kindness but when you’re coming forward with the vibe that you’re lustful, it’s annoying and gross. Women deserve to feel comfortable in whatever state they’re in. We are more than an object for a mans use. We are more than our body. It makes me so sad and I see more people gas lighting women and telling us we should be happy for the attention when we only want to be happy by feeling safe. I want to feel safe being sexy. You wouldn’t want to go out on a date with a bum now would you, now why can’t a men look at women with lust if that’s what we were created to have? I’m not saying put your hands on a women, but just like you want to be safe showing off skin, men want to be safe looking with lust without being judged or worse but I think we both know that ain’t gonna happen. Ps: Men ain’t telling you “you should be happy you’re getting attention” to gaslight, men say it cause it’s true. Women are so privileged and don’t even know it. The ratio of compliments women get a men gets one every decade from a women and usually they are grandmas. Men do it to give you the compliments they never get. Plain and simple.

Immodesty and contraception help men objectify women as well. In chapter 17 of Humanae Vitae, Pope St. Paul VI predicts that men after being used to contraceptive methods will lose respect for the woman as his beloved companion, and this is happening now!

Like a typical abuser, terry hasn’t changed but is just acting well behaved in public and trying to act like he just didn’t know women were human - meaning, he’s still making half truths and excuses about his actions. According to Lundy Bancroft, a male anti-abuse author who has counseled many abusers and has heard things from the horses mouth, abusers who speak publicly against abuse often get worse in private because the attention they get feeds their ego, which is a core component of an abusive mindset.

To be fair a lot of women see men as not all the way human when it comes to their lack of emotionality. Let's not pretend that we don't often veiw men as dumb uneovolved jocks. In an animal way, the strength difference between men and women creates an inherent lack of understanding that can lead to a serious lack of respect and trust between both genders. The man undervalue the woman because she is physically weaker and the woman disregards the feeling of men because on an animal level she sees him as a potential predator. It's kinda fucked up nature did us like that lol

We did. And then they asked us for our resources, and they don't look at us as human beings. Who need love, care, hugging, but they equate all that to "men want sex". Oh yeah, whose mostly homeless? Who has the most suicides, depressions etc? Men. And us men view each other as objects. Now women see men as status objects. or just financial objects. So many men repress their hurt feelings, when they blow it all up they get labeled as "abusers". Is it any wonder, why men view women as 'all the way human', when women themselves don't allow them to be viewed as that? When we voice out our feelings, when we display emotional neediness, what the fuck happens? We get cut down. We are viewed for how we look, what we do as a job, what our physical strengths are, etc. But women downplay it, and say, "okay-insecure guy, work on yourself". I feel like women are the biggest projectors on men for themselves rather than men do. All men need sex. That's the unfortunate world in which we live in, biological urges. Sure, women have a womb and are basically seen as "the progenitors, future of humanity", when today, I swear it's better off humanity shouldn't continue. Women aren't good childbearers, their biological reproductive systems aren't even truly suited for it, they're just as bad, if not worse than men...but sadly the myth around beauty = love, nurturing, caring, etc qualities that are imbedded in a woman, are nonexistent today. Oh sure, yeah... women are truly human. Well they're pretty human in the regards that their instincts are even baser than men, only that they front the facade of the qualities that men give them. Granted, there's nothing else, no cloning chambers... women are the only procreators and progenitors of the human race at the moment. Men can't give birth. Not all men are abusers. The abusers are once the abused, did you ever stop to think about that?

Crews is a Hollywood star and former pro athlete, so his perspective is going to be skewed as he's probably experienced and witnessed women constantly pursue him and his colleagues left and right, therefore they're probably more inclined to treat them like they're disposable. That's not the experience of most men out there.

But many men who aren't celebrities and athletes look to celebrities and athletes as role models. People oftentimes get their reality from the TV set, radio. I'm not saying all people do, but the average person owns a TV set, radio and respects at least some of the characters that appear on it. So they aspire to be rich and famous with all the perks that come with it. If you want to see who a person is, don't make them poor, make them extremely rich and then see how moral and righteous they are when they have no restraints to live out their true desires.
