It means that improving public schools involves electing a superintendent to apply policies of improvement. And policies require funding. So to improve public school, you need an educated electorate (so they know what is needed in education) as well as higher funding. Public schools, as a non-profit, almost entirely relies on public funding. They are not meant to be a profit seeking entity, they are an educating entity. So the governor, by giving funding to charter schools that already seek profit from parents and sponsors, is cutting public school funding, which, since that's the only way for public school to fund its policies and teachers and all, means Virginia is going to be stealing from public school kids to give to the rich charter school kids.

They literally cancelled GIFTED programs because of lack of funding because schools are NON-PROFITS so they need funding. Children should not become a marketplace. Just fund public schools. Virginia is a huge part of our history (American history), I don`t agree with removing any statue ( and I`m hispanic). Why? because when I drive by those statues and my kids ask about them, i gladly explain the history on those assholes. We cannot hide or erase history, good or bad. And, yes schools in virginia has gone to shits, we`ve lost the excellence in our schools. Terry is talking about the past regarding veterans, many veterans are moving away. Virginia was military/veteran friendly many years ago. Hopefully Glenn keeps his promise to make Virginia military/veteran friendly once again.
